@BeeerRunner I've been checking back all day to hear about your race. Fantastic time!!!!! OMG I'm so sorry you fell, glad you weren't hurt worse. Who puts railroad tracks at the end of a marathon Super time!!!!
@_nikkiwolf_ the trail looks beautiful3 -
@BeeerRunner - Congratulation on having the fortitude to finish. You have now joined the group of less than 1% of the American population that has run a marathon. Well done!
The open question is whether you want to do it again. Don't try to answer that question for a few weeks. You'll need some time for the reality to sink in.4 -
@BeeerRunner _ Congrats on the first marathon! Great time, that sucks about the fall but way to persevere.2
-
@BeeerRunner Simply an awesome result!1

Too many days off from running in the last half of the month, so I will not make my goal. Tonight, I did a 4.5 mile run on the treadmill.
I'm going to try to see the positive side... whatever I end up with will be higher than Jan., which had 3 more days. It is progress. I need to make more progress in Mar. and be ready for the 12K trail race on 4/1.2 -
After 2 weeks off and in physiotherapy I was able to try running today. Just 15 minutes very slow, 2 minutes running/1 minute walking. My shins are a bit sore but my left ankle only bothered me when I was stretching out my calves after the run and the right ankle isn’t bothering me at all. Definitely making progress, but it looks like I will be mostly walking the St. Patrick’s Day 5 km race in March.

Haven't been able to totally catch up on the thread (and not sure I will at this point) but wanted to make sure I congratulate @BeeerRunner on an awesome job done on her first marathon, especially after that fall! Way to go!1
-
@BeeerRunner - you are amazing getting up and going after a fall like that. I am pretty sure I would have sat there and cried. I suspect you are going to be pretty sore in the next few days!
@Elise4270 - I will buy you Moscow Mule AND nachos!
@_nikkiwolf_ - Beautiful pictures!
@ddmom0811 - Hope you feel better!
After sitting in the airport/plane all day I checked into the hotel and headed to the gym, which is actually very nice for a hotel gym - lots of treadmills and ellipticals and weights. I had it all to myself and managed just under 4 miles. If I had realized I was so close to my goal I would have kept going just a little bit longer!

Although, its very possible I'll have surgery again this year...
@Elise4270 Wait, what? Do tell us more. xxoo
My surgery side (left) is doing great. Weak, uncoordinated, still some nerve pain, but I'm like 87.9% better on that side.
My right appears to have the same thing going on. A fibrous band (3 on the left) is tethered from sciatic nerve to something, not allowing free movement. It gets painful. Butt, the right is no where near as bad as the left was. So I anticipate it'll be a cake walk with lots of violin practice and cake.
Steroid shot planned in a month. He wants me to work on stretching it out daily. Consertive care first. Figure I'm probably 6-9 months from surgery, if it goes that route. Steroid shots are awesome, so I'll be banging out some miles as soon as that gets started.
ETA. He said I can run, just don't heel strike- pulls the nerve.

@BeeerRunner congratulations on your first marathon! And overcoming what sounds like a painful bad fall and still making it under 4 hours. Incredible. Hope you aren't too horribly sore today. Ouch.1
-
@BeeerRunner - Congratulations! what an amazing race. I'm so amazed at you going that last mile with blood streaming down! What a bad@ss you are girl!

@BeeerRunner Great job on battling to the finish line! I echo the "You're my hero" comment. I hope to one day have the courage to train and run a marathon.
@MobyCarp Wow! You're killing it this month. That's a lot of miles at a great pace!
@_nikkiwolf_ Thanks for the pics. That would be amazing to have that to run.
@Elise4270 Sorry to hear you have to get surgery but happy you can still run and know what to expect from the surgery.3 -

@BeeerRunner That is soooo not my definition of 'uneventful'! Congrats again on a great run!
@_nikkiwolf_ Nice trail pics!

A bit of a slog this morning with Stella but still - made it to my revised goal of 90 miles for February! Not sure if I'll get any more miles as tomorrow is my long work day. Then Wednesday I'm off to Scottsdale to hopefully start March running off with some beautiful runs along the Arizona canal!3 -

Monthly goals:
Mileage goal: 150
Real Goal: Stay healthy enough to get into the swing of real marathon training.
Today's notes: First run of cutback week. Got my 4 miles in, but I really wan't feeling it this morning. Ran with average pace of 9:52. I shouldn't complain, since stretch goal MP is 9:55.
I'm just really in a grumpy mood because my left leg is bothering me again. pain when walking (but not running??) especially going up and down stairs. Glad it's a cutback week because of that. I have an appointment with my GP for Friday morning. Hoping the fact that I only have 2 runs (6 miles & 3 miles) between now and then, means my leg gets better, but I'm in freak out mode again since this definitely seems to be a bone issue and not a muscle issue, though that calf is sore again too.....
Oh, I guess I should be happy, I made my mileage goal.....1 -

Hope for a bike ride today!!! Although I caught myself giving runners the stink eye today at the gym, I wanna run the trails. Today's gonna be rainy... Aww muddy trails, how I miss you. I miss stopping every half mile to kick 4 inches of mud of my shoes, I miss tromping through every single water puddle, I miss singing "I wanna be an air born ranger.." loudly....and I almost miss snorting gnats.4 -
2/1 - 3.4 'mill miles and a quick weight session. The scale was ugly today.
2/2 - 4.1 treadmill miles.
2/3 - Rest day.
2/4 - 2.3 'mill miles and then Bodypump class
2/5 - Super Bowl = no run AND way overeating.
2/6 - 4.01 miles.
2/7 - 4.25 miles.
2/8 - Shoveled in lieu of running. I hate snow.
2/9 - 5.3 treadmill miles. Trek class with a lot of "tempo".
2/10 - 3.4 treadmill miles, then upper body weights.
2/11 - 4.33 miles. Red Flannel Run. Was supposed to be a 5 mile course! Someone sure missed on that. I was very happy with my pace and would have finished the 5 in under 40:00, so I was a little disappointed with that.
2/12 - 2.3 treadmill miles and Bodypump class.
2/13 - 4.1 miles.
2/14 - Impromptu rest day. Woke up with significant pain in both feet and some discomfort in my right hip. Not sure what's going on, but thought it best to rest a bit.
2/15 - 4.47 miles. (I think it was more like 4.62...GPS waited a block or so to start, weird).
2/16 - 5.17 treadmill miles. Trek class.
2/17 - 4.25 miles.
2/18 - 5.75 miles. Longest run in a while, starting to stretch out. Felt good!
2/19 - Rest Day.
2/20 - 4.51 miles. 58° F at 4:45 a.m. in February? Yes, please!
2/21 - 4.47 miles.
2/22 - 4.52 miles. Again, nearly 50°! I could get used to this!
2/23 - 4.20 miles. The nice weather is ending today.
2/24 - My plan called for a rest day. Not feeling it. May run later.
2/25 - 1.7 treadmill miles and Bodypump class.
2/26 - 3.11 miles. Slow, easy 5k with my son. GOAL!
2/27 - 4.55 miles.

@BeerRunner- I know I posted this on your feed, but SUPER impressive first marathon. Especially with the injury. Stupid railroad tracks! I know @Mobycarp asked if you were thinking about another one. Pretty sure I know your answer when you are that close to a BQ!
Speaking of Boston, my road there just took a sharp turn backwards. I am currently on day 4 of no running and waiting patiently for my PT appointment on Friday morning. I am pretty convinced (with the help of Dr. Google), that I have high hamastring tendinopathy. I am totally bummed about this. I have not run since my 1 mile jaunt with Stella on Friday morning and am planning on taking the rest of the week off until I have my appointment. I had a massage on Saturday and did some P90X pilates yesterday, neither of which seemed to help much.
I am just so frustrated because I have done everything I can to dial my training back and take care of myself for the last year and a half since qualifying, and then this happens NOW!!! Ugh! Trying not to imagine the worst, but even one weekend of no running smack in the middle of marathon training can put you in a panic, as many of you know. On the plus side, I do feel like I am pretty well conditioned, having maintained a regular schedule of weekly runs over 10 miles for the past year and a half and I do have one 20 mile run in this month. One of my MFP friends who is an incredible runner told me that several years ago she was sidelined with a stress fracture at this time leading up to Boston. She ended up getting one long run of 18 miles in two weeks before the race and still had a great race, so I am trying to focus on that inspiring story.
Well, looks like I will be closing out the month with 118 miles, well shy of my 180 mile goal0
