My pups at first were like, "how long is this new puppy staying?"
Now one pups guards the baby like he's her own pup. (Had to teach her not to snap at anyone trying to take the baby from me. Even dad!) The other one sniffs him, but is kinda afraid of him and runs away if the baby puts his hand out...

Yeah, she is still afraid of the kid. Not that I blame her, he is only 9 months old, so like babies do he tends to grab onto a handful of stuff and not let go. We try to keep a close eye on things so he doesn't pull ears or something sensitive. He thinks it is absolutely hilarious when she is laying down and her tail is thumping, she will let him play with that for a minute sometimes.0 -

Catahoola?
I think you're talking about my pup, the quoted image. Yes, we think she is/mostly is a Catahoula. She was a rescue so not sure though.1 -

I want my dog to jump in but he seems to be scared. Considering his breed is supposed to love water, it’s disheartening.
Sometimes if you fond them a doggie friend that swims it help. Syd loves the water and she taught my pitty to swim. Also creek/lakes/ponds are less scary because they get in slowly, pool they tend to have to jump into1
