I haven't done normal push ups in ages but I was at 36 last time I did them. Now I only do push ups with my elbows tugged to my body and I can only manage 25 of those0

But what about you sir?0

Well I was doing the 22 pushup challenge and missed a day so I doubled up and when I got to 44 I started to gas, but I think I could have gotten 50.

Not positive but I'm pretty sure the chart I posted above for ladies...was for push-ups on your knees1

Most I've done without stopping was 410

Just like a man.... always want us to get on our knees. Sorry... I had to. P.S. I am not sorry lol6

I can do maybe 100

I could probably give you fiddy with impeccable form until the costochondritis flares up. Push-ups (and dumbbell curls) were all I did as a teenager. Bruce Lee was my idol.

Ouch sounds painful. I hope it's not too severe.0 -

Got "talked" into a 100 pushups a day challenge by some of my 20 something friends (I'm 55), got up to 30 per set, and was getting the 100 done per day for two weeks, and then an impingement in my shoulder sidetracked my progress.....
My silly brain still thinks I'm 20 something too..

I just asked my wife; she said: "dunno, let's find out."
she just did 25
.... not too bad, right?4 -
I'm between 90 -95% of my age group.

At 230-ish pounds, I can do between 35-40. And that's with my abdomen touching the ground every rep, not just bent elbows to 90°.0

I don't think it means much really, unless it comes also with the question, how long have you been actively trying to do more. Unless you do them regularly, pushing the boundary, you'll soon drop at a lower number. I struggled around 10 and found doing them in the ad-breaks of a fav tv show got me doing lots spaced out, which upped the single set ability (sky very good!), up to 30 within a few months and around 80 a day as 4 sets of 20. Something that really bugs me is poor form fast dipping, where the whole body flexes and a brief attempt to move a few inches in made. There are videos on youtube showing good form, and someone else to spot you is also helpful. Right now, probably only 20 good form and failure around 30, not good; But not part of my current PT.2

It's a good point. Some people can flop through a lot but I wouldn't call them things push-ups.0 -
