I think open relationships are like the US open. It's great to watch but I wouldn't want to be in it.

Yeeeep. I mentioned in another thread I have two husbands. And one of those husbands (my primary/long term, who I've been with for almost 10 years) occasionally goes on dates with/sleeps with other people on a casual basis.

Thank God, too. I was miserable being monogamous. It had nothing to do with lust/sex (my sex drive is close to non-existent), defective relationships or being flaky... I've just always had a propensity toward intense and genuine feelings of love for more than one person. Even throughout high school I was maintaining 2-3 relationships at a time. I've got a lot of love in me and I want to be able to act on it freely.

I absolutely cannot keep up with my main partner sexually, so I'm very happy that he can get that from somewhere else, because our relationship and friendship is perfect in every other way... I've never been under the illusion that I have to be 100% perfect and fulfilling in every way for another person. I mean, if that were true, nobody would ever need their friends or anyone else ever again once they're in a relationship. I'm just not threatened by the concept at all.

It's not for everyone (in fact, it suits very few people) but it's right for me.

Sometimes I think this would appeal to me. Before marriage I maintained a few relationships. My spouse would not agree, so it's monogamy for us.

I have always had "friends" that I chat with. I have not found the partner that would understand the "benefits" part. I have had a relationship that she wanted to "swing". I guess I didn't understand the rules. You're just supposed to meet and "get some", I looked at it as a second relationship. My bad.

I seriously doubt that both people are for it at the same level. One person is going along.

For some reason, I'm fascinated hearing about this even though I wouldn't ever want that for myself. Kinda like when I find myself watching documentaries on prison life. Fascinating, but never want to experience it LOL

As for me NO WAY! I'm greedy and I'm not sharing a man (well not willingly anyways).

Not for me.
Emotionally I probably could not connect deeply like I have with my spouse with more than one person. I have never met another person I feel a connection with like I already have. I also do not view sex as casual.

I have lots of gym girlfriends. Of course no sex or dating is involved, but we can talk private stuff and sexual innuendo if they choose.
