I only get them if I've been admitted to the hospital for a bowel obstruction. I try not to let this happen very often because it's really no fun having strangers stick stuff up your bum.

Yes, my mom did it regularly. We weren't allowed to go near her room/bathroom. I wasn't exactly sure what was going on, but I was smart enough to not really want to know!

I live in a disgustingly hipster area and there's a raw vegan restaurant/yoga studio/massage therapy center/colonic center (yes, they're all those things at once) in my neighborhood. It's definitely back.

I am legitimately shocked that people would consider eating at a place that also did colon cleanses. That is not something I want to be thinking about when I'm eating.

    Or smelling, for that matter.

I would worry about potential cross contamination. Which could infect and kill someone.

Not that I'm defending them at all, but it's a very big space. Their colonic center is about 100 yards from the kitchen or dining area and I was told that part of the facility has on a separate ventilation system from the rest of the space.

Have you done this? is it beneficial? how much weight did you shed?

It was very beneficial so that the gastroenterologist could see if I had any polyps in my colon. I lost 5 lb. I also gained back 4 lb within 3 days for a net loss of 1.5 lb for the week.

In other words, unless you are prepping for a colonoscopy it does nothing.

I once did a networking event through "Business Chicks" which was "speed networking". Basically, a bunch of women in a room, with drinks and nibbles, having to change conversational partner every 6 minutes. I got stuck talking to a lady who had a natural therapies business and spent the whole 6 minutes describing how she loved doing colonics and used a clear tube so she "felt closer to the recipient and had a greater understanding of their body".

I had to skip the next 6 minute block and hide out in the ladies' room while I silently sobbed with laughter.

Omg! I would have burst out laughing during the conversation.

Put it this way.... The ceiling and surrounding walls in your toilet will no longer be white if you happen to sneeze before you are properly seated :confounded:

Very true. The prep I took for my colonoscopy caused some nausea. I did manage to get my backside on the toilet and a bowl in my hands before I had to barf. Minimal clean up

Every time one of these threads comes up I think of my poor dad - after surgery he got so constipated he ended up in the ER. My step-mother called me in the middle of the night to let me know what was going on and announced "they are getting ready to give him a douche." Uh, what????

Of course, she was old and got confused easily.

For me it was the year I bought our current house. Big cherry tree in the back yard. They got ripe. Big popcorn bowl full of them fresh off the tree.

Yeah, I learned something that year.

Can I use this as a PSA to go and get a colonoscopy ESPECIALLY if you have a family history of it. I have one family member 29 just diagnosed with colon cancer. A second family member, she's 31, just got called into the Dr. to discuss her results, we will know more on Monday.

This is one of the fastest growing cancers in millennial's age group and in women more rapidly than men and its going down for the over 50 crowd probably because of the push for colonoscopy's at 50.

They are thinking this is in correlation to the rate of obesity increasing.

That would do it. I just realized I used the wrong two. Should have been too. Oy. Long week.

I use a Colon Cleanse called "The Cleaner" it's a 7 day cleanser that cleans your entire system and organs. They have a Women and Men formula that comes in a 7 day or 14 day. The 14 day is just 2 seven day servings. DO NOT DO THIS CLEANSE FOR 14 DAYS! It's just cheaper to buy the 14 day so when you do it a 2nd time. I usually cleanse every 6 months. I tried alot of cleansers and this is farmost the best that I have been using for over 10 years. They sell it at GNC, Amazon or other health food stores. The better you eat, the better it works. The 7 day is around $14 and the 14 day is like $21 I believe. Very reasonable and the best I have used.

Cleans out what organs? Realistically it can only clean out one, and it's entirely unnecessary.

Why do you force yourself to have diarrhea once every 6 months? I consider it a victory if I can go a substantial period of time without having to spend hours on the toilet.
