I haven't eaten dessert or candy in 3 1/2 years. I essentially gave it up in February or 2010 and lost 30 lbs. by June 2010 without any effort at all. I'm not eating a Paleo diet and I realize some things I eat contain refined sugar (for instance, it is an ingredient in bread) but by not eating candy and dessert and anything that can be construed as dessert, such as breakfast cereals, muffins, donuts, etc. I dropped the weight. However, after that initial 30 pounds dropped off, I got kind of stuck and now joined MFP to lose an additional 20 lbs.0
