Time. Time works best for tightening loose skin. Seriously, not being snarky. In some areas, adding muscle can help fill it out a bit, but mostly it just needs time to shrink back as much as it's going to. Mine seems to still be shrinking a year into maintenance (after losing 60-some pounds), but slower as time goes on. Reportedly, it's mainly a genetically-driven thing, but young people theoretically have better results than old people. I'm old (61).

Be aware that loose skin is quite thin, like what you can pinch on the back of your hand. It makes small wrinkles, like folds of a midweight fabric (maybe lightweight corduroy or velveteen).

Thicker folds, like half an inch or more that you can pinch, probably still include some subcutaneous or not-very-dense residual fat. That will shrink with more fat loss (weight loss), or body recomposition (add muscle, lose fat, at more or less the same weight).

skin isn't muscle, so really there isn't much you can do about it in that way. of itself, it doesn't respond to exercise the way muscle does.

exercise is still great for other reasons, but i guess it's best to find those other reasons and make them your motivation for doing it. your skin will follow its own schedule for recovery . . . congrats on your loss, by the way.

The joys of losing weight at the wrong side of 40. Sigh. Thanks for giving me hope that it will get better, eventually.
