Get a new trainer if they aren't teaching you the 4 big lifts. Squat, deadlift, bench press, and overhead press

That's kind of a big 'if' since she didn't mention anything about her workouts other than she leg presses.

I realized It after I said it. I was mostly meaning that you're trainer should have you more focussed on free weight compound movements than what you can do on a fixed machine. Since there are plenty of people who can sloppily leg press hundreds of pounds but can't do a single squat

I could never do squats because I couldn't handle the weight of the bar on my shoulders. I had a personal trainer who tried to help me with my form etc. ... but that bar just hurt.

Low bar squats & the meaty shelf might help....

    Word. Love my meaty shelf.

When I had a dedicated leg day I used to do 5-6 plates per side after squats.

405# was the heaviest I pressed. I switched to 1-leg leg presses as an accessory to my leg day (those are 90#) and I'll do calf presses too.

I agree that squats are better but the leg press is a good accessory workout to round it out. That's why I don't go so heavy with the leg press anymore. I'd rather expend that energy on squats.

Most of my female clients can leg press AT LEAST 180lbs. My best girl right now (at 5'1 and 125lbs) leg presses (full ROM) 540lbs for 8 reps.

    Simulating bodyweight squats...

Although probably better to just do the squats.

I grew a big old booty never touching the leg press and never doing more than 12 reps in a set of anything!

But hey, if it floats yo boat

if you are looking to build muscle you should be doing 8-12 reps - not 150. maybe look into a program too?

My personal trainer steered me away from this machine. I am a long distance runner and she was concerned about how lots of weight on a leg press machine would effect my knees. I do squats instead.
