    In school we had a cadaver of an old lady and they had meticulously taken the innards out, cleaned and put back in place for teaching purposes. they also had human heads and stuff like that. It was a memorable sort of experience.

    Yes, in a casket at funerals. But I've also seen and touched a few close family members soon after dying, and before being taken away for preparation.

    It's an honor to keep company with someone as they pass. Especially if it's someone you love and especially if it's a natural death (whatever that means). I've done that a couple of times. There's sadness in the death but no horror at the body in those cases.
