I gave up red meat, which is my favorite. I realize now that might help me lose weight. What did you (Catholics) give up? Anything fitness or food related?

it'll only help you lose weight if you aren't replacing it with another protein source, or replacing it with a lower calorie option thereby reducing your calories.

We were just talking about this at work. I am doing soda. Even though I don't drink that much, when I do want it I WANT it.

What is funny though is, anyone observing lent I talked to, the things they are giving up they have been OVERLOADING with this whole week leading up! lol. Have a friend who is giving up sweets and every day I saw her with candy, cakes, etc.

But how will you lose weight now?

I'm just planning on loose-ing now instead

I've always considered that, loose-ing weight, it would just fall off eventually anyway.

I grew up Catholic, but now consider myself a Spirit-led Christian who appreciates the meaning of Lent. I need to give up my easy frustration response for life, but I'm starting with giving that up for Lent.

Well I'm not really religious but I gave up a lot for lent. Only buying stuff without known terrible business products. So no Coles/Woolworths though I am still doing riteprice and aldi because rite-price is just excess stock and aldi treats its workers well... Luckily Adelaide Markets is really good. I can get meat, fruit, veg, tofu, non-sus takeout there. All inspired by the whole 'don't support bullets' thing.

This is going to be a hard 6 and a half weeks.
