I do. :( And the bad thing is that EVERY TIME I have a rest day, I tell my boyfriend how much better my workouts are the next day. And I STILL have a hard time taking one.

Sounds like you need to tell yourself that, as well as your boyfriend!

Today wasn't my rest day but I unintentionally made it one..cause I feel lazy...I plan to carb it up and use that tomorrow for legs...making lemons into lemonade

Somewhat, I try to dedicate rest days with walking and light stretches if it feels incomplete.

Me too - I always feel i should do something on 'rest' days, stretching at the very least. However, I just finished a 30 Day Strength challenge from Darebee and hit my target weight a few days early. So, as I knew I was starting a much heavier schedule, and I'm coming up to 47, I decided to take FOUR DAYS off to give muscles/body a complete rest. It was TORTURE! But, started new routine and just feel so much better, can lift more than i thought I would and can see a difference in the mirror already.

You can't upgrade a computer if it's always switched on. :-)

If I don't do at least 1 1/2 hours of walking a day I get the guilts and as restless as it comes. Got to learn that a day off every now and then won't do any harm.

I don't even mean just taking rest days...but doing nothing even after having worked out hard during the day. Even if I do a workout, I still feel guilty later on if I spend time just sitting around

I'm just getting back to working out after almost a two year absence . I am kind of forced to have a rest day on Saturdays due to my work schedule. I've been exercising 6 days a week for about 6 weeks. Today is the first Saturday I don't feel guilty because I feel like I'm going to crash and burn. I'm actually grateful for the reminder to pace myself.

Maybe it's time for a sanity check?

    YES.

But having a Fitbit has helped me - I realized that I can still be active without going to the gym etc.

Sounds a little obsessive to me.

I did until I realized that the rest doesn't hurt your progress.

I felt rest guilt when I was a noob and was "working out". Now I train. I have clear goals and in order to reach them I must rest. No guilt. If you want to reveal the fitness you have been building, you have to rest.

    Yeah yeah yeah...

For real though, if your body is in a constant state of exhaustion your workouts will be subpar.

Rest days.. hate 'em ...never associated it with guilt though...Like today, had to take one ... had a huge power dip from just getting up and eating breakfast.. had to cancel the bike ride I had planned ... a couple of naps and some chores around house was it for me.. but the worst part was the headaches and body fatigue.. can't even concentrate enough to get some reading or work done.. but guilt... not so much.. just hate doing nothing..

I don't feel guilty on days that I have exercised first thing in the morning. On days where I don't head to the gym, I feel like I should be there, but I also know I need to give my body a break and allow it to rest up from any strength training. I'm still learning to let myself be okay with those rest days.

I know rest is an essential part of a fitness plan, but I can't help but feel guilty resting if I have time to exercise. Anyone else have this problem?

    Nonreat for the wicked!
