Economics -- how things work in the real world.
Learning that might add to depression though, once you realize how broken the imperial American business centered economics are and what they do globally in the name of short term profits.
Yeah. It's only led to amazing advancements in the quality of life around the planet. Damn Americans!

if by advancements you mean mass genocides such as East Timor, all of Latin America, South Africa, Vietnam and Korea and that is the tip of the iceberg in the US private interest destruction in the name of profits.

how about the propaganda system in the US alone removing rights of citizens for private profit? or the broken state-capitalism?
where the innovation comes from public funding and then the profit is then privatized?

or perhaps we can discuss the inequality of money in America alone where the middle class has been nearly demolished along with the manufacturing of the US with now a nearly fully consumerist society and modern slavery in America with privatized prison system making massive profits off public funding?

    Less coffee dude. Seriously.

Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Model, and how it relates to individuals coming from disadvantaged neighborhoods, poor families or minority groups. I think people would understand others' challenges and behaviours a bit better if they understand the cultural differences, opportunity differences and level of resources. It helps a lot to understand why stereotypes exist, why problems are not being solved correctly, or why certain phenomena seem to repeat themselves in certain groups. It helps a lot to clear out racism, but also to learn about your own communities.
