Drivers turning right without looking right

This is my biggest peeve as a runner.

Ditto, as a cyclist, i hate when drivers turn right in front of me. Forcing me to stop short or swerve, especially morons that pass me just to cut me off. I also hate when drivers are rude and don't give me any space on the road. I don't understand, is that makes people feel better when they drive by me and their mirrors are almost touching me? And then there are honkers, who rhink the road is just for them, although there are signs "share the road" all over. I'm out to enjoy myself, be in my zen place, not to get hurt. So don't $@&&/# go out of your way to run me off the road. And i hate how short the weekends are, and how time goes by so fast in general.

But to counter this argument, I hate when a cyclist sees you put your blinker on and sees you move to make the turn, they make eye contact with you, then speed up to try and get past you before you can turn. How are we supposed to gauge whether or not we have time to turn without cutting you (not YOU specifically) off with that kind of BS behavior? It's jerks like that give cyclists a bad name and frustrate the hell out of drivers that are trying to share the road safely.

Oh, and why I'm on cyclists! I hate people who meander ride while texting, particularly when they are approaching a crosswalk. I was making turn and some idiot almost ran into my car because he was looking at his phone. I also hate when groups ride side by side across the path so faster riders can't get by, and the people that randomly stop in the middle of the path to check their phones.

One more...I hate people who don't let you know they are passing you and what side they are passing on. They just whiz past on their $2000 super sleek, super quiet fixie without a peep and get pissed when you try to pass someone and get in their way. Is a polite "LEFT!" so much to ask for?

Okay, DONE! I feel better now :)

So in response, when imake an eye contact with the driver, is to assure that he/she will let me pass before turning. That's just that simple. My stopping distance is greater than that of a car, I'm probably going full on, with a good effort, at a good speed, and if you see me looking at you, making an eye contact, please, let me pass. It's quite dangerous for me to have to stop short, and I'm probably racing against my time, trying to improve my results, etc. Just keep in mind, that bike isn't a car, i don't have any protection other than my helmet, and it's not a fair fight between a bike and a car.
Then, of course cyclists should not be on their phones, i don't see much of that, but I'm not saying it's not happening. And it's probably a good practice to announce themselves when passing someone.

In college, my roommate honestly thought cyclists were suppose to use the sidewalk. I had to have a very honest conversation with her about what sharing the road meant. She grew up in rural Nevada (US) and just didn't understand. I had to teach her a lot of things actually...

My ex used to think same thing, and she was one of those people who would push cyclists off the road, cut them off, even yell and road rage against them. But she was a n @$$hole, and did i mentioned, that's my ex?. Lol. I couldn't convince her that it was against the law for me to be on a sidewalk

In relation to dogs and dog walkers, I hate it when people have their dog off-leash when they're not supposed to (in Australia dogs must be on leash unless it's a designated off leash area).

One of my dogs has some serious socialisation issues due to some mean neighbours and another lady who had her two Staffordshire terriers off lead in their front yard and attacked her. She's skittish, and we rely on other dogs being on leash so we can slowly rehabilitate and resocialise her.

It doesn't matter if you have a chihuahua or a Great Dane, they need to be on leash.

    Yes.

And add in people that let their dogs (on leash or not ... but often not) run right up to yours saying, "oh, don't worry, my dog is friendly!!!".

Yeah? Even if it is true - and half the time it's a flat out lie, mine's NOT DOG FRIENDLY. Not if some strange dog gets in his face. I keep him on a very short leash wrapped around my waist and looped around my hand for that reason. Seriously, one of these days I'm not going to be able to get between my dog and theirs fast enough and there will be a fight. So far, I've been lucky enough to see them coming.

I have a dog who is super friendly off leash, but only gets off leash in an off-leash dog park. On-leash, she is extremely reactive towards other dogs and NOT friendly at all and I LOATHE when off leash dogs (when they should be on leash) run up to us. It will be a sad day if I ever can't control my dog enough to keep her from munching someone's dog because they are too lazy to hold a leash.

All points well noted. Unfortunately when this usually happens when I am already moving into the turn because I decided it was safe to do so and often in busy urban areas with busy streets, during rush hour where we also can't just slam our breaks on without taking the chance of causing an accident...and if that happens even more people get hurt. However, if I question whether or not I can make the turn I usually wait for the cyclist to go by. I got in a MAJOR bike accident as a teen that f**ked me up pretty bad so I am a cautious when I'm on a bike cautious when I am driving around bikes.

One more gripe though...I hate when cyclists ride 2 or 3 wide on a busy street and block the whole right lane. That's just plain rude l, especially when there is a designated bike lane. Minneapolis is a pretty major city in terms of the size of our cyclist population and we debate these issues frequently. Bottom line is that on the roads needs to come from both sides equally.

I HATE it when people honk their horn at a red light at the innocent mom in her minivan stuck behind the Moron 20 something who's texting like a fool, not paying attention to the green light. It's not the Mom's fault the fool in front of her is a selfish SOB.

Or people who let their dogs run up to you and say the same thing as their dog sniffs and rubs against you. Because knowing that a dog is friendly magically makes the allergies go away.

Recipes that don't give specific measurements!! No offence to the Americans on here, but what the **** is a cup?? How big of a cup? And a "dash" of soy sauce could be anything from a teaspoon full to a full on tidal wave. And there are times that google won't help at all, it gives you different weights for a cup measurement. :D

Did I read this correctly? You're asking "what is a cup?????" One cup is 8 fluid ounces, or 250 milliliters. Cups measure FLUIDS. A cup measurement is not to be confused with WEIGHT. One "cup" of marshmallows will weigh less than one "cup" of marbles. Yet they will both fill the same "cup." The thing I hate is when people get these mixed up.

And Google is very helpful. I'd like to know where Google gives you different "weights" for a "cup" measurement. They're completely different! It's basic stuff you learn in grade school.

As for a "dash" of something. That's just hard to explain because common sense would say that a dash could be compared to a "sprinkle" or a "squirt." Or maybe just "to taste." Common sense.

Just did a quick google search and "1 Cup in Grams" brought up 340g, 227g, 150g and a few more.

    https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=1+cup+in+grams&oq=1+cup+in+gram&aqs=chrome.0.0j69i57j0l4.9007j0j8&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Plenty of recipes have ingredients listed in cups for dry goods (flour, sugar, dried fruit etc) but I use a weighing scales for all my cooking so have to frequently search for a conversion and get different answers.

Also I'm not in the US, I never went to Grade School. We were taught a different curriculum. It didn't involve how many grams are in a cup. :)

Because it's never the same number. It is infuriating, but you can usually google it for whatever ingredients they're talking about. It just annoys me because cups is just not precise and results will vary a lot on whether your flour is packed or not.

It's the same with brown sugar. I don't know if my 'loosely packed' or 'tightly packed' cup of brown sugar is the same as yours. Gimme a damn weight.

I hate when parents send their little 5 and 6 year old kids to school with pure junk to 'fuel' them for the day!
