never had, looks processed
Um, yeah. If it's a cake, it's been processed. Even if it's homemade.
Oh, and pass the Butterscotch Krimpet on the right, please. I used to eat these when I was a kid, but they've not been available where I am now ... until just recently ;P
being a cook/gourmet I do venture into baking and know some bakers however I have yet to meet one using..
Tastykake Butterscotch Krimpets (3 oz)
Ingredients (37):
Sugar, Flour Bleached Enriched (Flour, Niacin, Iron Reduced, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Folic Acid (Vitamin aB)) , Water, Egg(s), Corn Syrup, Vegetable(s) Shortening Partially Hydrogenated (Canola, Cottonseed Oil) , Corn Syrup High Fructose, Corn Starch, Butter, Milk Skim, Leavening (Sodium Acid Pyrophosphate, Baking Soda, Monocalcium Phosphate, Calcium Sulphate (Sulfate)) , Tapioca Flour, Salt, Whey, Mono and Diglycerides, Food Starch Modified, Soy Protein Isolate, Soy Lecithin, Xanthan Gum, Pectin, Flavor(s) Natural & Artificial, Sorbic Acid, Propylene Glycol Monostearate, Citric Acid, Nutmeg
now as you can see most of this junk is used for color and as a stablizer/binders with a lot of forms of sugar/fat ontop of sugar/fat.
look how much corn is used in this 1 product that has been chemically formulated and stripped down into a pure form there is not a single redeeming quality, in anything from this company.
Ok Gordon Ramsay, chill. We get your point. However, no one has claimed that TastyKakes were gourmet cuisine; nor did anyone say they're even remotely healthy.
way to insult me directly gordon ramsay... pfft
this is a fitness/health website / forum posting high praises for a chemically lab made junk food expect it to get hated on... and I stated the info I did as point of ref based on what someone else said on its ingredients.
Best thing I've seen all week!0 -

Darn it! And all this time I thought these prepackaged little bites of heaven were healthy! all natural! and even organic!
Thank you sir obvious for clarifying that they weren't!0 -
Spent 8+ years in Philly; these and cheesesteaks and scrapple are what I miss the most. Houston finally has TastyKakes, but the cheesesteakes aren't the same without Amoroso's rolls!0

scrapple trumps pork roll
incorrect!0 -
I love these things. I hate butterscotch, but these I can eat by the bagfull!

AND cake ...0 -
Who remembers the jingle?
"Let's all have a TastyKake and have a lot of fun...
TastyKake is all the good things...all the good things wrapped up in one."
Having said that, the things gross me out. I can't consider them even remotely edible. The jingle was catchy, though...it must be from the 60's, and I still recall the tune..0 -

UGH! And I always forget the privacy of the internet and how "public" means it is only for a select few.
I love how much you have taught me today(:0 -

If I weren't at work on my phone, I'd have posted one of the many funny "welcome to the Internet. I'll be your guide" memes. Anyone wanna help a sista out?0 -
They are good, but VERY processed!! I always get a kick out of ppl posting the 'good' food on a weight loss site!! Sabotagers!! lol0
-
Ick! They didn't start carrying these where I live (Maine) until hostess went out of business. I bought some and they taste like cardboard. They're dry and bland!
And now I learn they come from the state of Pennsylvania! When I lived in PA a few years ago we would go to the farmer's market every week for the Amish sticky buns, cookies, and doughnuts, why would anyone with access to food like that buy tasty cakes???0 -
Didn't get a sales job with them and was devastated. I'll still eat a jelly krimpet once in a while. Nommm.0
-
scrapple trumps pork roll
In what alternate reality are you living? Is down up as well?0 -

Guaranteed to pack on the pounds and they don't even taste good. Eat more junk but don't complain because you aren't losing.
sigh...
Plenty of people have lost budgeting a treat here and there.0 -
I love Chocolate Juniors. They used to sell them in the school cafeteria.0

My husband is from PA. and he was some kind of happy when TastyKakes started popping up here in SC. He brought TastyKakes, pork roll, and pork & sauerkraut into my life. What a great guy! He always tells me that if we ever make it back up to PA, I'd better be ready to gain 10 lbs on cheesesteaks and whoopie pies.
ETA: spelling on TastyKake...my husband would be appalled to see it with a "C"!0 -

I did not do it because you requested it...I did it because Jim Carrey being crapped out of a fake rhino seemed an appropriate response to your highbrowness.
ETA: And because I'm SUPER cranky today and craving a chocolate junior which is not sold in NV.0 -
