Neither. It is fuel and an enjoyment.10

Neither for me either.3

Doesn't medicine = drug?8

Food is fuel necessary for me to live and be healthy.
Food is fun. I enjoy food. I like to cook. I like to try different things. I like cookbooks and recipes.
I do not medicate with food or drink. I don't eat or drink to try to feel better.
I am not addicted to food. I don't feel anxiety, guilt or anything like that about food.2 -
I love food, I'm a foodie. I eat the right amount though, not too much and not too little.2

Neither. It is fuel and an enjoyment.
This.
Mainly fuel ... because I exercise a lot and need the fuel.
My sense of taste/smell is somewhat limited so most food is pretty bland. I tend to like foods or dislike foods based on texture. But certain flavours/smells do come through and I do enjoy certain foods for the flavour.1 -
It's food.1

Food is food, medicine is medicine, drugs are drugs. And efforts to psychologically reclassify an essential fuel source as an artificially described metaphor are unhelpful.3

drug:
a medicine or other substance which has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body.
........................
- a drug can be a medicine
- not all drugs are medicines
- another substance can be a drug
- a food which has a psysiological effect can be a drug
.......................
Do I think food plays an important part to health and wellbeing? Absolutely.
Do I think foods should be used in substitution for evidence based medicines? No way.

Yup, food is just food.0

Neither? Fuel, culture, and happiness.2

As everyone has pretty much said... medicines are drugs, I eat food for fuel and enjoyment.
On my own/at home, I emphasise the fuel side. Socially, I emphasise the enjoyment side. But they work together... I eat more nutrient dense at home with convenience and nutrition being the number 1 factors, and more sweet things and varied flavours socially with flexibility and sharing and so on being the main factor.1 -
I love food. Besides the fact that I try to make myself feel better with it, mainly I just enjoy having a nice meal.0

Neither -- like others have said, fuel and a pleasure, usually a social one.1

You DON'T need medicine or drugs to live (unless of course one is diagnosed with a disease). You need food to live though.
Food is food.

Hi everyone . I think acknowledging the right answer to the question above is the key to our weight problem. What are your views on this?
And you ... @DrMercury?

Food is pleasure, fun, something to look forward to.0

For most part of my life it was a fuel, sometimes pleasurable, sometimes no so much but it was also an important family socializing time (breakfast, lunch, dinner time). When it was like that, I had stable, optimal weight.
I guess at the time food was what it should be - something that was supporting my life & wellbeing.
Letter food become:
- a toy to play with when I'm bored
- a social exchange (with friends, relatives)
- a bonding tool with my SO (searching for a kebab at 2 A.M. with some loud rock on the speakers, with a wind in our hairs )1 -
OP, are you asking if we use food more like medicine (for wellness and healing) or if we use it more like a drug (to feel pleasure, soothe ourselves or satisfy an addiction)? I think that's what you meant by your question...
ETA: My answer - it's probably a combination of things. I eat primarily to keep my body fueled and healthy. But I also eat for pleasure and enjoyment. Food is fun. I would never say that I have addictive food behaviors, though. I don't binge, eat for comfort or anything like that.1 -

For me Medicine! All I can say is it literally saved my life!1
