Omg i couldn't believe that I could inhale it all up in one sitting lol. Would you believe too? I inhale some pasta, cakes, ice creams, much much more dessert and wasabis. 4k is only a guestimate i dont know if I overestimate it but I would mind I do a good guestimation because I do 3 plates of whole meal which I think every plate costly a rough 1k calories and desserts consist 1k also though. Is it possible a 4k for a average person in one sitting?

Isn't this post about you doing just that? So, why wouldn't it be possible?
There's a fancy restaurant in Australia with a signature chocolate dessert. The recipe is in their cookbook.... I plugged the ingredients in to MFP one day and came up with 2000 cals a serve. It's not a huge dessert either!
All the food you ate was calorie dense, so highly likely you ate a lot of calories4 -

I know how this is going to sound, but eating has always come so natural to me lol, putting down 4k would be a walk in the park. But thats why I have to vigilantly log every meal to comprehensively see whats going into my pie hole. Got to make sure I'm sticking to my cutting calories. Had only one cheat meal in 3 weeks doing pretty good so far.10

I can easily eat/drink 5000 calories in a day, so while 4000 in a sitting would be a stretch, I'm sure I could do it, especially with calorie-dense foods . . . and I'm a 61 year old li'l ol' lady. A strapping youth like yourself should have no difficulty.
That's a whole separate question from whether it's a good idea, though.11 -
If there's a lot of sugar then it's possible! Especially for drinks0

Sugar has 4 calories per gram, same as protein. Fat has 9 calories per gram, so fatty foods would be much more calorie dense.
4000 calories in a meal? Easily. Sit me down at a rodizio/churrascaria or an all-you-can-eat sushi bar and watch me go!3 -

I was asked to leave (they were polite though) at an all-you-can-eat sushi bar.21 -

Nicely done! I haven't gotten kicked out of an AYCE sushi bar. Yet. LOL.
I did get kicked out of a Chinese buffet once, though. Two friends and I (two of us football players and the other a powerlifter, all known for having big appetites) hit that place like a horde of locusts, they couldn't put the food out fast enough. It was a little mom and pop place, and after a while the owner came over and told us (not very politely) that we had eaten enough and it was time for us to leave. We definitely got our money's worth, but I may not have quite made it to 4000 calories that day before we got booted.8 -
What it comes down to is how much your stomach can hold.2

I guess I'm the odd one here in that 4k in one sitting would make me so sick. I could probably do that over the course of a day if I really push myself, but I think I would be so bloated and nauseated. I've never actually been overweight or been one to binge, so it's hard to relate to why this all-you-can-eat scenario would be fun to do. I enjoy eating, and I can see consuming a couple thousand calories of some really rich food maybe, but being totally stuffed doesn't feel that pleasant to me. Can't imagine it in one sitting for myself, but I have seen many others do it easily. So of course it's possible. There wouldn't be an obesity problem if people weren't able to pack away the calories...4

I do believe it. Have had struggles with binge eating for years and I have eaten 4k in one go before.
People who open 'all you can eat' restaurants are asking for trouble I think especially when in walks a champion eater like Homer Simpson.0 -

I'm right there with you on thinking that eating that much at once would make me sick. At the least it would cause acid reflux. At the worst it might not stay down.3 -
4k in a day sure. in one sitting no.
Its possible sure, but I would personally be begging some one to put my lights out for me after doing this.1 -
Easy if you get one of those 2000 pasta dishes from restaurants like cheesecake factory plus a slice or two of cheescake for desert.9
-
Very easy with bread, juice, and desserts.3
-
that used to be a "normal" kind of day for me...thats why i was 360 pounds.now eating about 1/3 of that and down to 2408

Yes...just go out to eat and you could over your 4000!
"Red Lobster's Create Your Own Combination can include shrimp fried and tossed in cream sauce, which can be paired with a margarita, Caesar salad and Chedder Bay Biscuit for a total of 3,610 calories"
or have just two of these:
"SONIC's Pineapple Upside Down Master Blast contains a whopping 2,020 calories and 95 grams of saturated fat"

No, haven't done it, I might be able to manage that over a day, but 3000 is the most I've eaten in a day and it was pretty uncomfortable. I agree that it must be the stomach size, maybe the stretchability factor.
I dislike fizzy popand fruit juice, but even at that I find liquids very filling!
I think the capacity to eat large amounts is probably a good survival trait though. I mean, if you knew food was shortly becoming scarce, eating as much as possible in a short period, gaining weight too, could save your life.
edited for spell mistake.1 -
There's no way I could get down that many calories in one sitting without feeling sick.1
-
Easily doable.
My wife's carrot and walnut cake comes in at 900ish calories a slice. I have cookbooks full of decadent cakes that are easily 1000 calories+ a slice. 4000 calories doesn't take long, especially with cream.
- Chinese buffet, 4000 calories easy.
- Dominoes pizza, House Special Tandoori, Large, Double Decadence 3 Slices is 906 calories. Full pizza 3020.
- Tub of Ben and Jerry's Wholly couch 1100 calories.
- Five guys Bacon Cheeseburger with extra Cheese, extra Bacon, Onions, Jalapenos, Lettuce, Mayonnaise, Pickles, Cattlemen's BBQ Sauce 1252 calories
- Five guys large fries 1724 calories
- Cadbury Dairy Milk Big Taste Triple Chocolate Bar 300g, 541 calories per 100g. 1623 calories per bar

I just looked up a typical meal I have had from Red Robin:
Whiskey River BBQ: 1560 calories
French Fries: 450 Calories
Sweet & Spicy Ketchup: 100 calories (I am pretty sure I would have at least 3 servings of this).
Salted Caramel Milkshake: 1200 calories
That comes to 3,510 calories. 4,000 calories from eating out seems pretty easy to hit to me.9 -
Have you guys heard of brunch buffets? (Or other all-you-can-eat experiences with fried foods, breads, and desserts?)
Thanksgiving a couple of years back, with forensic photo evidence and over the objections of 2 MFPeops who thought I was at least an extra 1000 Cal higher based on the same pictures, I logged my 9 dessert dinner plate (+3 deserts in little cups that didn't fit the plate, so 12 items in total) at just over 4000 Cal and the whole meal at just over 5500 Cal. (we are talking whole slices of cakes etc)
Of course I was too full to eat anything else, and was feeling slightly off, and had SOME difficulty moving. Duh! That didn't stop me, nor had it stopped me in the past... hence my ending up on MFP a few years back!
On the other hand I regularly had and have ~3500 Cal days (not meals; but days). And I was uncomfortably full at the end of my dinner.
So I do have some trouble believing some of the "5000" Cal meals/days posted in disgust by people who seldom break 2K on a regular basis on the occasions when they have gone seriously overboard!6 -
In a day, sure no problem.
In one sitting.. maybe, if most of the cals came from alcohol. I always try to "trick" my body to get more cals in.. and it is difficult.. but booze seems to bypass the sensors1 -

Believe them. (IMO).
Several up-thread have mentioned stomach capacity/stretching. I don't know whether that's the thing.
Regardless, I think some have the ability - be it stomach size, hormonal triggers, or something else - to eat very large amounts. Maybe it's genetics? I dunno.
I can do a 5K calorie day. I can even kind of enjoy it. It's not disgusting, in a physical way (rationally, I know it's Not A Good Plan). It's not particularly uncomfortable (depending on the details of what's eaten/drunk). I know how to log as accurately as anyone does. 5K+ is accurate. Most of my days are around 2K. I can eat (and lose) at 1.6K for quite a long period, without dropping into binge-vile - it's sustainable.
We're not all wired the same.5 -
It is not like you do this every meal and everyday ! But you did it! I would be sick I dont think I could but years ago yes I would of been right there aside enjoying it too now not a chance I would be horrible sick and acid reflex would of killed me!0
