First day of the CycLeague Giro d'Italia event today, so well stoked for that.

    Fri 05 - 26.62 miles: MTD 74.72 / 500, YTD 1376.18 / 4000

Most of that was into horrible amounts of headwind, occasionally leavened by wild and unpredictable crosswind

New biker here. I'm actually getting my bike middle of this week. This kinda means that I won't really have a target beyond "go out for a ride as often as I can and see how far I can get" for this month.

    05.05 6.5km
    07.05 8.5km

    Total: 15km

An even-rarer 2-ride weekend. CL Giro day 3:

    Sun 07 - 31.7 miles: MTD 126.78 / 500, YTD 1428.24 / 4000

Headwind killed my enthusiasm for going much further, but still pretty pleased with that - slaughtered my previous best climbing total (still not exactly going to win any King of the Mountain jerseys, but getting better)

I'm back from work trips and starting a log for May. My goal is a bike ride of any length for every day I am at home. There will be more work travel this month so I only have a fortnight or so. Today's was 17 km on the trainer. Best wishes to all with your own goals!

First Century ride of the season ticked off - an organised Audax event round the beautiful New Forest. For people not in the UK please note the New Forest isn't new and mostly isn't a forest!

Unfortunately it was far harder than it should have been, unexpectedly chilly but I just felt really off colour. Stomach upset early on wasn't exactly ideal.... But the countryside was absolutely beautiful - loads of bluebells and lots of foals for the wild horses too. Was aiming for 6hrs 30mins but did it in 6:44.
Last 10 miles were a real painful grind.

This is quite entertaining - an animated satellite view of my ride. https://www.relive.cc/view/975278572

Horribly cold with masses of headwind on the way home, and I was definitely under-dressed - froze my kitten off

Little things that cause disproportionate amounts of pleasure: 1) found some Garmin gadgets that let me have distance in miles and KM, and speed in MPH but ascent in metres all on the same screen; 2) Weather actually fairly pleasant on the way home.

My next big event is a 205km Audax called The London Ditchling Devil.

"The London Ditchling Devil, a 200km Audax from Wimbledon in South London visiting Ditchling Beacon and The Devils *kitten* along the South Coast before coming home to Richmond Park.

The Ditchling Devil is a traditional non-competitive day tour where the emphasis is simply on completing the route and enjoying the day. We start outside the Windmill tearooms on Wimbledon common and ride out to of London through Chipstead to the elevenses stop at Highbrook Village hall nr Ardingly (50km). From there its more quiet country roads towards the coast where we bounce of Brighton via Ditchling Beacon and the Devils *kitten* before heading for lunch at Upper Beeding Village Hall near Steyning (105km). Then it's an easy hop over to Chiddingfold (146km) for some afternoon tea and cake - can you spot a pattern here? - before the gradual climb towards the Surrey Hills and the final dash for home to the Roehampton Gate Café in Richmond Park (205km).

    Read more at http://www.cyclosport.org/event/04-Jun-2017/UK/the-london-ditchling-devil.html#8CfeO6SuiHOusAEo.99"

Lives up to the description of an eating competition held in beautiful countryside.
