Apple Cider Vinegar - Does it really help with Weight Loss?

I have be seeing a lot of facebook and pinterest posts about apple cider vinegar helping with weight loss. I was wondering if anyone had tried this and your outcome. Feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

I've been taking ACV for months for something else and have gained weight. The two are not related. Likewise, there is no correlation between taking ACV and losing weight.13

Unfortunately, a myth. Good ole eating less and moving more is the key for weight loss while being in a calorie deficit.7 -

I'm looking for good honest feedback from those that have tried it. I know to some that are hardcore eating right and exercising right this may seem ridiculous. I'm trying to watch my calorie intake and add exercise but supposedly acv has lots of other healthy benefits so if this can aid in weight loss then why not? I would like to hear from those that have tried it with some honest feedback of what they tried and why or why not it didn't work. Thanks in advance!5

It does not work for weight loss. It could have some digestion benefits, but that's about it.

you don't have to have taken it to know that it does absolutely nothing for weight loss.
The only thing that does anything for weight loss is being in a deficit of calories. However, if you want to run an experiment on yourself go eat 500 calories over maintenance for a month and drink apple cider vinegar and see what happens. I guarantee you wont lose weight...23 -

Think about it. Why would drinking vinegar make you lose weight? Why would drinking anything make you lose weight? Eat less. Move more. No magic solution.14 -
ACV will help you lose weight if you drink it vs drinking a soda or other sugary/high calorie drink. However you can drink water and it will have the same result (as far as weight loss is concerned). The only way to lose weight is to eat and drink fewer calories then you burn each day.
Now, I do drink ACV on the regular for health benefits. I really like the THM good girl moonshine...4 -
Don't confuse nutritional properties with weight loss...yes, raw ACV has some good nutritional properties, but good nutritional properties don't default to weight loss.
I got started with my diet and weight loss 4.5 years ago...I did the ACV thing for a time and lost weight...I stopped taking it and I continued to lose weight. My weight loss was attributable to my calorie deficit...a calorie (energy) deficit is how you burn stored energy (body fat).
On the science front, the only thing in regards to ACV that has been fairly well established is that it can help regulate blood glucose levels to some extent for people with diabetes.12 -

Try the search feature you'll find dozens of threads on this very topic in the last few months all with the same conclusion. It does not offer weight loss benefit. No individual food or beverage does. It may have some digestive benefits, some people use it for cleaning and other home remedies, and lots use it as a tasty ingredient in recipes for pulled pork. It is the woo du jour of 2017.

You are getting good feedback. It is a myth. It will not help with weight loss the only thing you will have less of is tooth enamel.6

I've gone through phases of drinking a shot-glass of apple cider vinegar daily, sometimes for extended periods. It had no observable effect on my weight loss. (I was tracking weight, exercise and eating meticulously, BTW.)
I've experimented with it because I've read that it can help with stomach-acid insufficiency that some people experience as they age (I'm 61). No, I don't know whether I have stomach acid insufficiency, but I do have a tendency toward some digestive system issues, so I thought I'd try an n=1 experiment.
In addition, I have a scientifically-unfounded supposition that eating various naturally-fermented products may in some obscure way be good for me. I can't defend that supposition logically, but I also can't see how the ACV's going to hurt me (nor any of the other things like kim chi, sauerkraut, yogurt, etc.) since humans have been eating such things for centuries if not millennia. Besides, they're tasty (yes, even ACV: Sometimes I put fruit-infused ACV - they call it "shrub" - in my vodka (yum)).
Still doesn't help me lose weight, though.6 -

If you understand how weight loss works, then you know that ACV does absolutely nothing to aid weight loss.

I know it feels hurtful to hear answers other than what you wanted to hear coming here. I don't think people are intending to be mean, I just think that this topic has been covered over and over again here on MFP. You can absolutely try drinking ACV and see if it brings you the results you are hoping for Just make sure you're also eating/drinking at a calorie deficit too!!6 -

Fermented foods are very good for gut flora...I eat a pretty wide variety of fermented foods as well.5 -

I'm not sure how people telling you that it does't provide any specific benefit that you don't get from a calorie deficit alone, isn't good feedback. If you do try my suggestion of the search feature, you will see that it has been asked and answered ad nauseum in countless threads. With the prevalence of advertising on social media and click bait headlines - we (society) are inundated with information that is provided to us by corporations looking to profit and sites all too happy to host these advertisements for profits of their own. I get that you were trying to do your due diligence and ask if there is anything to it - but trust us when we say no, it does nothing for weight loss. If you are currently managing your weight through counting calories and exercising - great! Keep on keeping on. Don't look for a product to give credit to for all your hard work.6
