Anyone have a problem with home run hitters doing a bat flip after going yard on a pitcher?

    it depends on the situation

    walk-off, sure no problem

a heated history between pitcher and hitter, again, no problem

the hitter's team is up 5 runs in the 8th inning and the batter hits one out with the bases empty, give me a break

    I agree with that.

Not even slightly. I love bat flips. The two are not even remotely connected.

So then you, don't have a; "problem" with it?

    Okay!

No I don't. My question was for the masses after a conversation I had with one of my actual friends who has a problem with it. His problem is due to him being a pitcher prior.

A bat flip is what hitters do when they jack a big home run off of a rival pitcher or a guy they just don't like. They are really entertaining to watch and pitchers get super annoyed by them!

Same as an end zone dance or end zone football slam to celebrate.. Bases loaded might mean bat flip, special prance and butt slapping.

Just for fun, I like this..

I am no clearer on this. My baseball knowledge = you hit the ball with the bat, you run around the ring thing and stop if it looks like you wont make it to the next one without the ball getting there first....

The pitcher rarely sees the bat flip. They're usually like *kittttttten* but I see no difference between a bat flip and a pitcher walking off the mound after a strike out while looking.

This is a bat flip. Hits the ball. It's a home run. Doesn't lay the bat down. He throws it. It's aggressive. It's hilarious. It's perfect for baseball.

You are missing one aspect, home run means you get to run around the ring thing free, do not have to worry about making it to the next one cause they move out of way for you.. if you hit one out of the park, bases loaded means that 4 points..

I never cared. If you hit a home run, it's polite to give the bat to the bat boy and saunter around the bases. Or whatever.

Ah so just throwing the bat away after hitting a home run then.

    I'm kinda disappointed lol

    Agree x 2

That bat-flip by Bautista was the perfect example of a lot of emotion after a long, crazy inning. I would defend that one down to the ground.

But if the stakes are not high, as in Motorsheen's example, than yeah, gimme a break.

I'm a purist, so that should answer the question about the bat flip. In my world, a bat flip would be met with some chin music.

They take bat flipping to the extreme in the Korean league.

Doesn't even need to be home run lol...
