Do you still log what food you eat on party, buffet, restaurant etc.? I find it hard to log what I'm eating up because I was too distracted I drink a 1.5 litre of coke today and I don't know how much food I've eatened Expecting the scale to backfire haha. I'm just curious

Yes. I generally prelog, even when eating out3

Yes. I try. In maintenance I can get away with being a pretty sloppy logger. Sometimes I'll count up the calories in my head and quick add. I maintained all through the fall like this. The problem is...a lot of the time it wasn't purposeful maintenance. I was trying to be in a deficit, lol. Fail for that.7

I used to count everything but since I've lost all the weight I wanted to lose, I no longer count calories on weekends. I still stick to and count every calorie during the week meticulously but give myself a break on weekends. It's working for me. I haven't gained any weight back, still exercise even on weekends and find that even when I don't actually count calories on those two days, I find I kind of automatically know what I can have without going to far over my calorie count.4

You weigh and log a few months and you get pretty good at guestimating.3

Sometimes. Most times no.2

Yes to the best of my ability

Yes, always. I tend to choose restaurants which provide their nutritional data and request it from those who do not- if they are not responsive, I tend to shun them from that point forward (if they are a larger chain-type place... I'm looking at you, Slim Chickens).
I don't eat out all that often, other than special occasions/trips, so it's not a huge deal most of the time. And, if I end up at a place/event where the actual numbers aren't available due to circumstances beyond my control, I just do my best and move on (and do a bit of extra walking etc. to build a cushion). I'm maintaining a 60+ wt loss for going on 9 mos so I think that it's working for me.2 -
i just try my best to input and/or i will just guess a big number (like a 1000 cal) n stick it in MFP so i know i went way over that day. plus, i will minimize the caloric intake before n after.4
-
I try my best to but sometimes I forget to do it2
-
yes, I estimate after. Some times I just make up a number and add it, usually high to avoid this doesn't count as i am not tracking type of thinking2
-
Well thanks though everyone has different opinions and I appreciate it1

I try
So for example yesterday at housewarming I guessed size of grilled chicken guessed amount of wine, logged 2 rice crust treats instead of one as unsure of portion size, logged grilled zucchini for both the grilled zucchini and summer squash,1 -
If you want an accurate representation of what you eat then I would log it to the best of your ability. "Closest"-to, foods, will give you some kind of information to work off of.4
-
I always have a rough estimate put in. I try to overestimate if anything to be on the safe side.1

I don't. If a day has been indulgent because we've been to a party, had a multiple course restaurant meal or been somewhere where snacks have been constantly on offer, I don't log.
The big blank space in my diary shows that the day has been excessive. I don't bother with totals, I just use the blank space to know that there's a very good reason for any gain. If I find that I haven't logged in a few days, I know that I'm getting into the habit of eating too much, so that pulls me back to where I should be.3 -
I try, though of course there's a lot of estimating involved, especially if it's a potluck or a non-chain restaurant that doesn't have published nutrition info.1

I just quick add a rough guesstimate.1

Yes. And I just found out my dinner was 1392 calories. And it probably was about that. It did not feel like that much, which was educational. I'm glad I exercised today, but I have suspicions that this was the most over I have ever been in one meal for the five years I have been logging. I'm stuffed. I think breakfast and lunch tomorrow will be LEAN.

Nope. I can't accurately log and i'm going to eat it anyway so it's not worth the stress.5
-
Sometimes I do depending on what it is I choose to eat but not always.0
-
99% of the time if I eat out it'll be a steak and side salad, or a Grill'd burger and I will always log. Occasionally (once every couple of months or so) I'll have a day like yesterday (Mothers Day) where we were visiting family and I was extra hungry from the 1000 calories worth of hiking and riding I did on Saturday so I'll munch away on cheese and kabana and other snacky things and not bother to log for the day. A quick guestimate put yesterday at about 2500 cals. I can live with that. Wouldn't be able to do it every week though.0
-
I try but it's really hard to guesstimate because you don't know how they're cooking food when you don't prepare it yourself. I just make a guesstimate of what I think I ate what part of the process is you have to enjoy the journey so if you have a day where you blow your calorie limit it's not going to hurt you as long as you don't get into the habit of doing it all the time.
I know after I eat or after I drink when I'm out I gained a couple pounds but it's mostly water weight and within a week I'm back to normal2 -
If I feel like I can at least get a good guesstimate, I log it. I don't always log in these situations, though.0
-
No, I don't but I am in maintenance so that helps. If the restaurant has the nutritional information on line, then it is easier to find it in MFP but most of the restaurants that I frequent are local places and not chain restaurants and trying to estimate or find something similar in MFP is time consuming and it will not be accurate.
Since most of the time I have around 100 calories left per day, I can go above my maintenance calories over the weekend without doing any damage.1 -
I log when we go out for meal, i can usually find a data base entry or get the calories off of a restaurant website.
At all you can eat buffets, i just guess and use quick add calories. I have no idea how near or far my guess is though...0 -
I always have a rough idea of calories no matter where I eat - I don't log my food but I always have a good idea of my daily totals regardless.
If you log choose nearest entries in the database or use quick add and estimate.0 -
yes, at the very least if I can't remember I just choose a buffet option that's around 1000 calories1
-
Yes. I try to log everything. Sometimes need to guesstimate based on MFP database.3
