How do you wear leggings and squat?!

So I've always been one to wear regular loose workout pants but would like to wear leggings in the summer. My only problem is that I get paranoid about squatting while wearing leggings because I've seen women squat, and i get a full on view of their butt! Like it stretches and becomes see through. I tried on a pair in the dressing room, did squats, and a downward dog but I don't know if the lighting in the gym will change the "see through" look lol. How do you shop for leggings and know for sure they wont be see through?!

you squat check them?
this isn't as hard as you'd think.
I do acrobatics in the dressing room (including taking pictures) and just hope for the best.
So what if someone sees my thong. I'm not that broke up about it.18 -

Haha yeah i squat checked, downward dog, and good mornings in the dressing room lol1 -
You can always wear regular underwear under the leggings. Make it the same color, even.6

I wear a singlet...no seam along the crack on it. I'm more paranoid about the seam splitting than sheer fabric over butt cheeks.3

* Be sure to err on the side of a bigger size instead of a smaller size.
* If you can, try on in store first.
* Squat, do burpees, whatever at home *before going out in public*.
* Most leggings aren't see-through.
* Wear fleshtone underwear if really worried...no one will see anything.2 -
I choose to not gaf.35

I squat check them in the dressing room. No issues yet.
Sometimes I'll have hubby double check if I'm not sure, once I've bought them and brought them home. Do you have someone who could do that?
There are certain brands that are always good, and I don't have to check. Under Armour is one (I should get paid for that, dontcha think? ). Can't think of the name of the other right now.2 -
I've never had this problem but I tend to stick with compression for my lower body wear and certain brands, Nike, Old Navy, Lucy.3

I wear underwear and shirts that are long enough to cover my butt plus I squat at home. If I were to squat in public wearing a shirt that didn't cover my butt, I'd still wear underwear.2

I match my underwear to them. Usually black on black.4

If I know they're yoga pants/see through as heck I wear compression shorts underneath. Otherwise, meh.0

Buy better quality leggings that are a little thicker - patterns help too! For example, I wear the cheap black Target leggings around the house but they are too see-through for the gym. But I have thicker, high waisted, grey striped ones also from Target that are great! I second the motion to double check in the fitting room.2

I squat check in the dressing room and get someone to check (usually my husband doesn't mind lol) but I find it so annoying that I have to do that- I guess that's what I get for shopping in the cheaper end of the pool. I just hate to spend too much money on something I know I will be using for a limited amount of time while I am losing weight. Black underwear is a always a good option too.0

I usually drag my boyfriend along when I buy workout pants. He doesn't mind squat checking for me5

Flesh toned underwear (usually a bikini or hiphugger/fuller coverage style), if I'm worried at all. Stick to thicker fabrics and don't worry about it too much. Beware going for the bigger size, as they may be less likely to be see through when you squat, but they may also be more prone to fall down when you do everything else. You can usually tell if a fabric if going to squat well by stretching it out and seeing if you can see the outline of your hand through it (the actual hand, not the shape). I second that UA has great leggings - I've never had an issue, even in their thinner fabrics and I have a *generous* bottom.1

This!!! Seeing underwear is more of a pet peeve than seeing butt cheeks. If you are wearing athletic pants with the built in cotton crotch, they aren't meant to be worn with underwear. It's like wearing panties with a swimsuit.
Being able to see your underwear makes it like a giant flashing neon sign. If there no change from flesh to bright green lacy thong then it's less noticeable.

ime most athletic leggings are of a heavier fabric than fashion leggings. especially if they are compression fabric at all. those don't tend to be as see through as some others. i wear nike, fabletics, champion and old navy with no problems in that regard. i do get nervous about holes or tears along the seams which always seem to be completely undetectable until i'm in a compromising position. like vertical leg press facing a mirror. thanks universe.6

I thought I was the only person who felt naked in leggings, I can't wear them.1 -
I always buy gym leggings one size bigger and cotton.
I don't use those workout leggings ...breathable my *kitten*.1 -

I have a pair that aren't see through- but thing- and light- and they 100% are like having no pants on.
it's like the best feeling EVER.

Yeah that's why i never wear them to the gym. I don't mind feeling naked at home haha. I also wondered where people keep their phone when they wear leggings. All my workout pants have pockets.0 -

Yup - this is what I do. I have never had an issue with any of mine and I have Fabletics, Old Navy, and my fave Victoria Secret.
Athleta has a 2-in-1 line that have a pair of loose fitting shorts or a skirt over the legging or compression shorts. Plus good pockets. I got a few pairs on sale and have been really happy with them.0 -
You know how many people I've flashed at the gym. My own husband didn't even tell me my leggings were see-thru. I felt so betrayed.

in my gym bag?
or just leave it in the locker.
Everyone at my gym carries around a bag though- backpack or duffle.
I have an IG video I took for funsies one day when we were all there- looks like we effing moved in to the gym- everyone set their bag in the same space- it was a lot of stuff.0 -

People that leave their phone in the locker clearly don't need music when they work out huh!? I've seen girls put their phone in the waistband of their leggings and I can only imagine how sweaty the phone would get if i were to do that!0 -

I just set mine on the floor by wherever I am - squat rack, bench press, whatever - along with my water bottle.4 -

Phones for music is a fairly recent invention- before phones- there were mp3 devices
some people still use them.
I use an ipod classic and shove it in my bra- I can't imagine shoving my phone in my bra though. way to big.
But I know a lot of guys/girls at my gym who use Bluetooth- so the phone stays in their bag and they walk around w/o it.0
