5:2

So I am trying out the 5:2 diet. Basically you eat normally 5 days a week and fast (only eating 500 calories for women or 600 calories for men). It supposed to help you lose weight and improve your health and longevity. I figured it wouldn't hurt to try it out.
I have chosen Tuesday/Thursdays as my fasting days. It's not as hard as I thought it would be. I have been drinking water to help with the cravings and I stretch my 500 calories out nicely.

I don't know about the "science" behind the benefits of 5:2. Everything I've ever seen is anecdotal (sells books though). But if it helps you keep a deficit.....it's good.0 -

Agreed, most of what I have read shows that IF vs. a standard protocol yielded no difference in weight loss or body comp. That being said, if this tool (i.e. IF) helps you stay in a calorie deficit than by all means do it but just know there is nothing special about it beyond just regular dieting.0
