i'm addicted, but only have one. i need more.0 -
I confiscated one of these at work about a month ago, like the *kitten* I am.
I obviously tried it out, all it did was spin. What am I missing?6 -
They annoy the everloving *kitten* out of me.
Full disclosure - I have four kids and there are 8,075 fidget spinners in my house. It's possible that I'm experiencing some sort of fidget spinner fatigue. Can we bring back the GD bottle flipping?

Thank you very much!
I asked my sister in law what these things do as they have 3 kids. It spins. That's it.
Apparently is a sensory toy for children with sensory issues etc but its been taken up by all the other kids.1 -

Lost them5 -
I find them annoying AF but that's just me. My kids on the other hand own at least 3 each. Drives me crazy but it puts a smile on their face. Plus, my oldest suffers from anxiety and she says this helps her out.2

Omg I love all videos of dogs with fidget spinners0

My kid wants one. They kind of drive me crazy, but I told her she couldn't have one until school got out for the summer. She would try to take it to school & it would be more of a distraction than anything, but I have nothing against them. I know they are beneficial for people that have a ton of nervous energy or even nervous ticks. They are great for some autistic kids to help them focus. I guess I should get her one now that school is actually out. I see a lot of crusty old whiners like me complaining about them, but nearly every generation has had their own equivalent of the fidget spinner back in the day.
Kaleidoscopes, Tops, Yo-yos, Gyro-Wheel/Whirly wheel, etc, all essentially served the same purpose for different generations.

I'm a fidgety person and often can have difficulty focusing...I have a fidget cube which helps with that...
I like it better than the spinner. It's not as cool and fashionable, but whatever...I have it for functionality. My kids both have spinner...they don't do much for me.1 -
Haha! I got one from a coworker for my son and I STILL have it a month later at work where I use it! I bought my son his own! I love it!

Yeah, I think it's kind of unfortunate that they became a fad toy...1 -

My son has had one for years and never had a problem being able to use it in class to help with his focus. This last year though they became a toy for all the kids and now my son can't even use his, unfortunately.0

Even adding it to an IEP teachers are faced with it effecting other students around, especially in younger grades.0 -

That's a shame. Same thing happened to my friend's kid who is also in my daughter's class. He's a high functioning autistic & it helped him focus a lot, but now he can't use it for the same reasons.0 -
I have 6.
I can spin one on my nose and one on each hand.
Okay...my son has 6, but I let him use them once in a while3 -

An IEP is a legal document, so if it's on there, it has to be enforced. But it's tricky because ultimately teachers have to read their kids. I have kids in my class all over the spectrum, and you just have to read them and see if they're really using it to help with focus or if it's becoming more of a distraction; whether it's helping or hindering their learning. Frequent comprehension checks help determine that. If it's not working, another strategy can be tried. I just reiterate their purpose occasionally, and the kids are doing fine with them. It could be worse... they could be as obsessed with--DUN DUN DUNNNN!!--recorders!! Oh, the horror. I think the melody has been taken from teachers' tears lol2 -
