When I want to give up because it's too hard.
Along the same lines--"what doesn't kill you makes you stronger"--used this a lot when I was training for a half marathon, and now when I go cycling with my husband.4 -

You cannot become your mother.
My mom was over 500 lbs when I realized this. She had suffered more than one stroke, and terrible, terrible health problems. I had been talking care of her for two years and becoming sicker and more depressed myself.
I weighed in at 260 and it scared the heck out of me. I realized I didn't have anyone who would take care of me, and even if I did, it would be profoundly unfair to ask them to manage the problems with excessive weight. After crying my heart out, I started logging my food and making myself walk even in bad days.
I'm down to 155 more or less two and a half years later. And this mantra still motivates me.
Incidentally, I put my mom on a diet too. At first it was simple rebellion, rising to bring her a jar of Nutella or potato chips. Eventually my dad got on board, and mom is now actively participating. She is down to 340. I hope in two more years we'll have her to 200.21 -

have never regretted exercising
EDIT: can also be applied to eating habits, etc. "will you regret eating the cake or not eating the cake?"4 -

I weigh daily.
Each morning when I awaken, I lay there contemplating that I might see a gain on the scale. I say to myself, "Get up and face the truth". And then just do it.0
