Definitive ranking of Halo Top flavors

Here is my definitive ranking of Halo Top flavors, as I have tried all seventeen (favorite to least favorite):
- Mint Chip - similar to Breyer's. Light mint flavor with a generous amount of chocolate chips.
- Peanut butter Cup - think Malt Cup flavor with a rich swirl of Reese's peanut butter.
- Sea Salt Caramel - a sweet caramel base with an indulgent swirl of sea salt/caramel
- Oatmeal Cookie - a snickerdoodle-esque base flavor with cinnamon and nutmeg notes. Oatmeal pieces mixed in (would be better with chocolate chips
- Vanilla - a classic vanilla bean flavor (not your typical New York vanilla ice cream flavor)
- Chocolate - rich, chocolatey flavor. Let it soften and it tastes exactly like a Wendy's frosty.
- Black Cherry - deep, dark cherry flavor. Like raspberry/chocolate chunk ice cream without the chocolate.
- Chocolate Almond Crunch - very strong almond flavor (which I love)... similar to those almond cookies at Chinese buffets - lacking in the chocolate flavor.
- Birthday Cake - a light vanilla flavor, could use more sprinkles... Prefer Enlightened's Bday cake flavor.
- S'mores - tastes more like tiramisu than s;mores... still good with a light graham flavor. Not many mix-ins, though...
- Strawberry - classic strawberry flavor. Think strawberry shake with a sugar substitute aftertaste
- Chocolate Mocha Chip - Very strong mocha flavor. Not the best (I prefer chocolate) but it has a similar taste to a Starbucks java Chip Frappucino.
- Cookie Dough - a lot of people LOVE this flavor... I'm not a fan. The mix-ins are weak and the base flavor isn't anything special (a sweet cream taste)... Not worth the higher calorie amount.
- Lemon Cake - It's good on occasion, but has a strong fake sugar aftertaste. Kind of tastes like cleaning product... but it was my first ever flavor Halo Top (back in 2012!) so I still have it occasionally.
- Cookies and Cream - It's okay... tastes like soggy Oreo's in almond milk - strong aftertaste...
- Pistachio - weak nutty flavor... think classic vanilla with green food coloring and pistachio extract HA. t's a fun flavor to try though...
- Red Velvet - meh. Nothing special. Could use more mix-ins (cream cheese!) Base flavor isn't worth the 90 calories per serving... A lot of people like this flavor though. To each his own.

Wow, I had no idea there were that many flavors! My store only carries about 4 or 5.1
-
Yup! Many stores (Walmart, etc.) are starting to carry more flavors.0

I've never had the mint chip, mocha, red velvet or the chocolate ... with that said, I agree with your ranking for all the flavors I have had. On point.2
-
No bacon flavor?1

The chocolate is actually probably a 4 or 5 because of it's versatility... Love it. Really does taste like a frosty. I'd like the vanilla more if it had a traditional vanilla "soft serve" flavor.1 -

Hey, ya never know0 -
I have tried them all, but now I will only buy the peanut butter cup and sea salt caramel. Those are the only flavors I can justify the calories for. (I am a whole pint in one sitting halo top eater.)
I am holding out hope for a butter pecan or maple flavor though. That would be awesome.2 -
That's right - torment the poor Canadians who can only dream of Halo Top . I feel the need for a cross border road trip!0
-
What new flavors would you like to see? Key Lime? Butter Pecan? Double Chocolate? Cotton Candy?0
-
I think the black cherry taste very fake...almost bitter. I would rather save the calories and have real ice cream once a month1
-
In thinking of new flavor ideas, butter pecan would be amazing.
I've seen both Enlightened and Arctic Zero attempt Snickerdoodle flavor - would be interested if Halo Top made a go at it.
One of my all-time-fav flavors is vanilla with chocolate covered almonds mixed in. I would like to see that.
Finally maybe a banana flavored option - choc covered banana or bananas and peanut butter?1 -
I thought the mint chip was kinda chalky... s'mores was pretty good, birthday cake was like a mix of cheesecake and icing with sprinkles, and oatmeal cookie tastes like cinnamon ice cream with oats. I really like the birthday cake and oatmeal flavors. I don't care for the chocolate chips in the ice cream, they are too small and fake.
Hmm...a maple bacon flavor could be interesting...

Do you work for Halotop? This was the exact same question the company asked us on my Facebook halotop page.

Lemon. I've only ever had lemon ice cream once and it was heavenly. Lemon sherbet and frozen ice just don't do it for me.0

There is a Lemon Cake flavor, actually!1 -
Of the flavors I've tried, this is how I rank them:
Black Cherry - Yummy. I love the chunks of real cherries!
Cookie Dough - Just wish the cookie dough chunks were bigger.
Sea Salt Caramel - The caramel swirl is a bit fake tasting, but still good.
Peanut butter Cup - Not a big fan of the chocolate base, but the PB is yummy.
Oatmeal Cookie - Cinnamon base is good, raw oats are not.
Cookies and Cream - Boring. Flavorless. No chunks of cookie.
Birthday Cake - BLECH!
Chocolate Mocha Chip - I need to find this one.

We must be eating different Mint Chips... because I get about 3 microscopic chocolate chips in my whole pint!

EDIT: just had Pistachio for the first time in a while and was surprised. Would rate it higher... maybe a 10 or 11?0 -
Sadly they are not allergy friendly so I can't try them0

Many of the flavors are, in fact, gluten and oat free: https://www.halotop.com/flavors/0

Yet are made in the same factory. Not worth the risk at all.0 -
Sorry OP, but birthday cake always trumps all other flavors, regardless of brand, product, medium, or universe. Birthday cake flavor is an absolute. A base element of reality. Birthday cake flavoring is life.0

I would rank my favorites that I've tried:
1. Birthday Cake/Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
2. Oatmeal Cookie (love the base, but the mix-ins are weird & would prefer actual chunks)
3. Mint Chocolate Chip (reminds me of Edy's so I don't buy this one anymore since Edy's is cheaper).
4. Sea Salt Caramel
5. Vanilla
6. Chocolate (wasn't a huge fan of this one, but I'm generally not a huge fan of Chocolate ice creams with the exception of Gelato Fiasco's Dark Chocolate Caramel Sea Salt that tastes like straight up brownie batter)
7. In last place so far Cookies & Cream & Red Velvet.
The Cookies & Cream would've been better with at least some kind of cookie chunks & the Red Velvet needs that swirl that Enlightened's Red Velvet has.
Today I bought Chocolate Almond Crunch & Black Cherry to try.
I have no desire to try the S'Mores & nowhere around me has the Lemon Cake flavor.
Wow Halo Top has been around five years already?0 -

Yup - five years! the Black Cherry is great; Chocolate Almond Crunch is hit or miss (a lot of people don't like this flavor, but I do...)0 -
The fruit ones are my favorite: strawberry, black cherry, and lemon cake. PB cup was good. Sea Salt Caramel is more like butterscotch, but still good. I'd eat those ones again. Birthday Cake was one of my favorites too, but I ate it so much I got sick of it.
Flavors I won't eat again: oatmeal cookie (literally made me gag), pistachio, vanilla, chocolate, smores, red velvet.0 -
I was thinking about getting this for my mother. She likes some ice cream1
