I got to goal weight slowly, put on a few, took them off, and am now looking at a new goal weight. I want to get there very slowly, more of a recomp than a diet. But every once in a while I think about short cuts. They're just so alluring. You're not alone.

So can I ask, what have you tried? What are your challenges with just aiming for a small deficit?

All I did was to eat less than 1200cal/day or sometimes I burn all the calories I gained within that day

no wonder you then felt 'lifeless'....

I got addicted burning and murdering the cals.

You need calories in order to not die. Don't go murdering all of them.

As an engineer, all the quackery about sweat suits etc drives me crazy. Your body uses significant energy staying warm. It uses almost none keeping cool. Why? Because you are not a fridge. The human body has literally no way to reduce heat by burning energy. It reduces heat by reducing activity and sweating.

So sweat suits, saunas, sauna suits, whatever, do not burn calories. They create a short term illusion of weight loss through dehydration. No fat is lost. It's all nonsense, and dehydration is bad for you.

    TL:DR don't do this.

I was active before.. going to the gym every night, using this app to help me calculate my intake.. I reached my goal weight which is 60kg. though, I ended up feeling lifeless or kinda depressed. Then, I hit that plateau thingy. So I started eating and doing what I love to do, i.e. sleeping, and poof! 75kg after a year

15kg = 33lbs. I lost about the same amount too quickly and efficiently, twice in fact, before slowing down the rate of loss and developing some sustainable habits. Do you think you also lost the weight too quickly or do you have another theory as to why it was unsustainable for you?

Nope. Unless you're in a sport that requires very specific weight, I know wrestlers that will wear it and run on a treadmill for an hour before weigh in to "make weight". But that's all water weight and they are dehydrated using that. They also tend to chug water right after weigh in because of dehydration.

For normal weight loss, don't bother.
