I used to burn 500 calories a day , spending 4hr at the gym and eating nothing but steamed broccoli and chicken breast everyday. I lost kgs pretty quickly but i gave up on my diet and exercises cause holiday was over and I couldn't stand the steamed food. I'm Indian we're used to eating spices and rice .0

Just remember eat less calories than you burn even if it's 10 calories sometimes it will still ensure that you are going down and not up, unfortunately for long term weightloss it won't be superfast but it can be for the rest of your life.
Will baby steps actually work? I mean by reducing food intakes will it actually work and I won't gain weight ? Is exercise compulsory?
Yes - it's rarely gained fast - don't attempt to lose it fast.
Life lesson you have failed to appreciate enough regarding weight.
You do more - you eat more.
You do less - you eat less.
How would you gain weight by reducing food intake?
Exercise is for heart health and body transformation. Not required for weight loss, though it could make it easier because it means you get to eat more and still lose.
You decide if you want to just end up smaller version of current self, flab where not desired, ect.
And examine every aspect of how you have done it in the past - obviously most of it wasn't useful - though there could be some useful aspects to use again.
And you'll need to figure out how to do it on your own - having someone always leading you by the hand - or rather pushing you - is not a successful long-term strategy.1 -

as long as you burn more calories than you eat you will either maintain (you ate and burned the same amount) or lose (you burned more than you ate) but you will NOT gain anything. It might be slow but it will be in the right direction just work on being consistent. Just remember the more you burn and the less you eat the bigger the deficit and the faster you lose, just do not eat below 1200 calories and if you exercise you get to eat those calories back. So you get a bit more food as a reward with no consequence.
Do not eat below or above 1200? I'm 19 and I weigh 110kg which is alot but my calorie counter shows that I can eat 1500 per day Idk if that's accurate
It would depend on your height but yes, you would likely lose weight on 1500 calories per day. And that can be an average. You could eat 1200 Monday, 1700 Tuesday, 1100 Wednesday, 1300 Thursday, 1500 Friday, 2000 Saturday and 1700 Sunday and still lose the same as 1500 every day.0 -

You know what your problem is? You are viewing these as "journey's". LIFE is your journey, this is a lifestyle change, not something with an end date! You need to accept you will have ups and downs, but make sure your average is what is improving. A setback is only that; a setback. Buckle up and keep going!0 -

Seeing the results getting slow down frustrates me and I go " What's the point of dieting if I don't see results" I've tried and I today I started a new diet again.
Have you thought of therapy
I have but I think I can control this issue on my own so idk
But you've admitted you can't.
Why does everything leads to therapy ? I mean do I sound like I have mental illness? Idk it's just very odd
I would say no you do not sound like you need therapy. It sounds like you need to just look at it a bit more logically. Being overly strict and shooting for quick weight loss has not worked in the past, so logic would suggest it won't work this time either. Eat in a manner that you can see yourself eating for a long time. Eat foods you like.
I like junk foods and I can NEVER eat that to keep up with my calories
Yeah, most people do. It's okay to eat junk food while losing weight. In fact, you could eat nothing but junk food and lose weight if you wanted. But most people don't do that because it's not healthy and you can eat a lot more food volume if you eat lower calorie foods along with the junk.
So at the end calories is the only matter ?
For fat loss, yes. For satiety and health, no.0 -

I imagine most people would give up on that quickly. Spices have very few calories and can go a long way in making lower calorie foods delicious. Rice is fine, I ate it regularly while losing. Just keep an eye on the portions and stick to your calories.0 -

If estimate was really only 500 for 4 hrs - you used your time very ineffectively - that is probably not much over your sleeping burn rate.
No wonder you wouldn't want to keep eating this.
What's wrong with spices and rice, and obviously the things that are likely put into that rice in addition?0 -

Check the recipes section of the forum, quite a few pages back. There is a thread of Indian recipes with reduced calories. It may give you some ideas to adapt your own cooking, or try some of the recipes.0

I've come to a conclusion, Now on I'll reduce my food intakes and stop junk food. So now I'm aiming for a long term weight loss . I have to accept that it's going to take months / years to lose 80 pounds . I'll probably workout for 2 hours a day. Hopefully that'll help. I'm truly nervous stepping into this. I need all your support and lucks0

Do you think that stopping junk food will make you want it more and then you will give up?
I incorporate "junk food" into my calories because after almost 30 years trying to lose weight anytime I deprived myself of something I "fell off the wagon" and failed.
I just make sure that it fits within my calories for the day and eat a freaking candy bar if I want one.2 -

If you eat at a calorie deficit you will lose weight no matter what you eat. For your health you should balance that out with nourishing food. I doubt that all you will want to eat in a day is sweets and they use up your calories without keeping you full.
This is a slow process but it works 1lb a week as a goal is excellent.1 -

How often should I weigh in ? Not seeing results was the biggest factor of me not continuing my previous journey. So I'm really afraid to get on the scale guys0

take your measurements then, don't weigh, there is a lot of fluctuation in weight that doesn't mean weight gain0 -

Many people say "I wish I could play the piano". If they really did, then they do what it takes to do it.

I agree with this. Losing weight is great but the real desire is usually to get smaller. Unless you tell them others don't know how much you weigh, but they see how big you are. Measure, take pictures, pay attention to how your clothes fit. This is the real test of whether you are getting thinner.1
