Why do you snack between meals and how often do you snack?

I generally keep a stash of midmorning and afternoon snacks at work. I eat one or both about 80% of the time. Depending on the perishibility, if I don't eat them, I either keep them at work or incorporate them into my dinner. Not being hungry makes me a much more patient and effective teacher, and the only foods I'm not allergic to for sale at school aren't particularly healthy or filling. I wouldn't want to rely on them on a regular basis.

I love to have a snack at night while watching tv, usually something crunchy and salty. It's not even that I'm hungry. I just find it satisfying. Before I lost weight, I ate more and higher calorie foods for snacks. Now, it might be Skinny Pop, Popchips, or Trader Joes Cat Cookies. I measure and just eat one portion. Sometimes I'll have icecream.

My snacking is rare enough for me to say I don't snack.
I hope that counts as a reply in a snacking thread. :)

I have breakfast around 10am, lunch somewhere between 2-4pm, mostly dependant on my schedule and my workout, dinner between 7-8pm, desert is delayed until 9-11pm so I can fully enjoy it.

I honestly couldn't fit in snacking as well as meals, I don't know where I would find the appetite.

That is just me though- I hate feeling stuffed.

    Cheees, h.

I find myself snacking mostly because I'm bored I work as a nanny for an infant who spends most of his day sleeping so there's nothing for me to do but snack. So after all day of eating junk food And snacking I'm never hungry for an actual meal. I'm working on self control and hoping to get the snacking down to a bare minimum

I've stopped snacking recently, but I would snack because of cravings such as sweet or salty things. It was because my meals weren't filling enough and so it wouldn't keep me satiated until the next meal. I've learned now to eat a bigger meal, but only eat once or twice a day (IF). It keeps me from snacking.

I like to snack because I like to eat between meals and that is when I get hungry. Also because I can :)

I snack because I'm hungry and need to eat so I don't get crazy hangry. Usually 2-3 snacks per day

I usually have a piece of fruit between lunch and dinner, maybe around 2:30 or so. Sometimes I have something after dinner, probably more dessert than snack...but always within my calorie goal.

I've decided to stop snacking and replace my snacks which sometimes topped 500 calories with an actual meal. Now I'm at 4 meals a day.

Before I started trying to lose weight I would snack out of boredom, hunger, feeling crappy, or just because I fancied something tasty.

Now - for the most part - I've reigned it in to just when I'm hungry. I was snacking between every meal to start with but now it's usually just after dinner, which is dessert so I'm not sure if that counts. Otherwise it's between lunch and dinner I'm the most likely to need a boost before making dinner, probably because I didn't eat enough lunch or dinner is going to be later than anticipated.

I snack in between meals when I start to feel hungry. I have breakfast around 7:30, a snack at 10, lunch at 12:30, a snack around 3:00 and supper around 6:00 on a typical weekday/work day. When I'm home on the weekends I am usually off schedule and snack less.

I'm not a snacker, but I label my daily afternoon green smoothie as a 'snack' since it's between my two main meals.

I snack when I am hungry or when I am starting to feel hungry and the next meal isn't in sight. I get very hangry so I try to snack when I need to.

I usually have a mid afternoon snack and an early evening snack...I don't eat dinner until 8:30 usually, so noon to 8:30 is a long time to go without food. Usually some nuts and fruit for my afternoon snack...evening snack is just whatever.

I rarely snack between meals. Occasionally I'll have chips & salsa while dinner is cooking on the weekend.

Monday-Friday I eat an ounce of wasabi almonds at 10AM (breakfast at 6 and lunch at 12) and a banana before the gym at 4. I eat the almonds to take the edge off of my mid morning hunger (and help meet my fat macro which I set pretty high) and the banana to give myself some carbs before my workout. I guess my snacks are pretty lame but I do love those almonds.

Almost never. I'm just not a snacks person. Even when I didn't care at all about calories, the only time I would snack was if coworkers/family brought me a random brownie or donut or something like that.

The only time I have a snack now is when I am going on a big hike or something else very physical before lunch and have a protein bar or some nuts...or if I've just done one of those things and it's a long while until dinner, then I may get ice cream or something, more like a dessert before my evening meal.

I eat when I'm hungry. I usually eat dinner at 6 and go to bed at 1 or 2:00. That leads to snacks every couple of hours on some days, especially if I run longer or harder. My hunger is usually a pretty good indicator that I haven't eaten enough.

Never really been a snacking sort of person. I much prefer to just have larger meals. In the evening, I leave space between my main meal and what I count as dessert (Greek Yoghurt with nuts, seeds & fruit). I suppose the main thing I have that I would consider a snack is the individual serving of breakfast biscuits I take to bed with me.
