I had a rest day today - by body was protesting!

@missevil sounds like you you have this in the bag and are making steady progress - well done. Its always nice when other people notice the hard work you are putting in and actual make the effort in telling you how great you look.

Even Jillian says to work out only 5-6 days a week, so a rest day is a good idea. Enjoy knowing that you're following through on your commitment! I almost took off today, but the scale was up almost 2 pounds from yesterday. Some is salt, I know.

Is it just me, or are some of these moves almost impossible? You're doing Ripped in 30, so what's your take on those lower abs exercises (laying on your back and lifting your legs off the ground just a little)? "Hollowman"? Not working for me. My lower back isn't made for that, and never has been. Are my muscles just that weak? Probably. I have a lot of curve in my low back, so I think that's the problem (my hubby thinks it's a nice problem to have).

@SheilaCali - I found hollowman a strain on the lower back as well, though it did get a bit easier over the week.
Day 10 done - am so looking forward to moving up a level next time...

Moving up a level? Good luck and ignore the high-intensity girl! They're really robots you know....

Whoops, overdid it today. 11 days in a row is too many. Got a trigger point all riled up and now my tummy and back are all knotted up and in pain. Darn it, just when I thought I was getting somewhere. Must be PMS kicking in, as that's when it often happens. Yeah, that means my TOM will be during my vacation. It just gets better and better. I'm still thanking God I have a roof over my head and no water in my house. A lot of folks can't say that these days. Count your blessings!

Hope you feel better in time for your hols SheilaCali - take it easy for a couple of days and let things calm down

Oh my, get well soon, @SheilaCali.
I skipped the day before yesterday and did the program yesterday in the morning, opposite to the other days where I did it directly before going to bed... the time of day doesn't matter, it's hard all the time ;)

Day 13 bites the dust and I have to say I don't like level 2 of Extreme Shed & Shred very much - too many plyo jumps that I have to modify. It's only one circuit longer than level one but feels like more. Am certainly not looking forward to day 21 onwards when I'll be doing level 1&2 back to back.... how's everyone else doing?

Two workouts back to back? That sounds ambitious - respect! I'm always extremely happy having finished one.
I kinda like level 2 of 30DS, but can't keep up with it yet (despite having 4 days finished already). The cardio part is killing me. Not because the exercises are hard, but I'm so groggy from the strength intervals that I have no energy to jump. I'd rather continue with strength.

I've just done 2 NON-workout days. Back to back even! You're right, it's hard anytime, but I feel if I can get it done in the AM, then I don't dread it all day long. Props to you missevil for getting it done at night- as long as you can still fall asleep.

I just spent a 1/2 day on my feet in the kitchen: Apple cake, pluot (cross between an apricot and plum) cake, a fruit crisp, meatballs, tomato pasta sauce (our own tomatoes- last batch I think). I poured some wine into the sauce, but neglected to pour myself some. Silly me! And I did 3 loads of laundry and 2 of dishes. I even hang out my clothes and do dishes by hand. That's gotta burn a few calories. I've got my TOM, so that fruit crisp hit the spot after dinner. It does have oats and nuts in it. Why send 2 cakes to hubby's work and not get any yummies for myself?

I'm leaving for San Diego in 2 days, and I hope to start another 11 day streak tomorrow. We'll see how I'm feeling in the AM.

Hope you've recovered serser28. Happy Day 13 done, VanVan! The Extreme workout sounds crazy-nuts :#;) !!

Yesterday I felt sick, so I skipped the sports. Today I'm a bit better, but still not great. All the jumping from the cardio section is the worst thing to do with an unwell stomach. So let's see whether I go for an "all boxing" session again or skip another day. Due to lots of rain, I can't commute by bike, so I try to walk more, to have at least some movement in my day.

I'm stopping Jillian and step for a bit as my knee has been complaining. I'm just going to do strength (moving from Gracefit UK to gains4girls) and walking for this week. On the plus side whilst the scale hasn't budged I'm definately seeing progress.

unfortunately I had to do that as well... it was a bummer...

Day 15 down - I had a rest day yesterday as well to give my knees a break - you've got to listen to yourself to avoid exacerbating injuries. There's no way I'm ever going rockstar jumps either!

Hello from San Diego! I'm glad you're sticking to it, VanVan. Rest is key, I agree. I've not done any Jillian stuff, but have been walking for hours and got on a bike today. I've usually stay around 1200 cals, but have been eating closer to 2000 for the past couple of days. My pants are tighter. This will be a 5 pound gain week. In the past 24 hours I've had very little self-control: pizza, pasta, pancakes, pastry, gelato (I had to throw a non-p word in there!), pita and pasta. Besides the first letter "p", they're all carbs- my nemesis. I did have an apple- yeah me. Lots of work to do when I get home... :#

Well that's what holidays are for Sheila - I ate like a demon over the summer, which is why I'm trying to exercise like one now, to get back to where I was  no regrets - if I want to overeat occasionally I will - with mfp I feel like we have the key to reversing it again rather than a binge turning into weeks and weeks of self-destructive pie-stuffing (I don't actually eat pies but you know what I mean). Enjoy your vacation! And your cycling - I've never been to the US - must put that on the bucket list!

I agree with VanVanDiane, enjoy the food and don't chastise yourself. We need occasional days like that for our soul and we know now how to handle it afterwards.
That is something very important to me. Never beat yourself up for overeating, especially during holidays or any other special days. I love food and need some days "off" where I can just eat and enjoy. Throws me back a few days, sure, but that's worth it and feeling guilty or ashamed is very unhealthy. I try to keep a healthy as possible relation to food and just try to reduce it on my regular days.

Back to the topic: today my hip joints and lower back hurt. I suspect yesterday's yoga session rather than Jillian - or the combination because I was trying to overachieve... I fear that I'm going to suffer quite a bit after today's day in the office. I usually am ok the next morning after a hard work out, but the day in the office without any movement makes the pain bloom.

Congrats on completing Day 17- you rock! YES, it can and will get harder. You were joking, weren't you? I'm going to be home tomorrow, and I'm guessing my weight gain will scare me back into my Ripped workouts. I'll be on Day 12 tomorrow, if all goes well. Riding a bike along the ocean was nice. Often there are pedestrian walkways/bikepaths you can pedal along. Mine was relatively flat and uncrowded- the best! Back to business for me! Hope everyone else is staying injury-free and psyched up to finish. I'm the second for sure, even if it takes me more than September to complete it.

Missevil, don't do a Sheila and try to be an overachiever. Even God rested on the 7th day! I should have, then hurt myself badly. I've been doing some yoga as a cool down. That way my muscles are nice and warmed up, and besides Jillian's cool down is a little too short for me. You can't stretch too much (actually I could probably find a way). :)

I've finished day 18 yesterday, but it's weird. I don't feel like I actually "arrived" in level 2, although it's almost over. It still feels unfamiliar. I'm thinking about extending it until the end of the month. ~15 days rather than 10. Then I'm a few days at my boyfriend's and certainly won't show him how I do this when he's still super frustrated with his own progress. Plus I'd be pretty embarrassed if he'd watch ;)
We will do a lot of walking though (as long as the weather is nice enough). He moved into a new city and we both haven't seen it yet.

I hope you are all well again and still motivated to finish your program. (I've the feeling there are only three people left anyway...)

Just finished day 18 myself, I certainly won't be done before the end of the month - I need a day or two to rest each week. Enjoy your visit!

Happy 18 VanVan! Day 12 done! Whew, it's been a while. Obviously I'm not going to finish in 30 days, but I'm committed to finishing. I should've rested, and I've learned that lesson the hard way. I did have fun and gained a few pounds, but it's starting to come off already. Keep it up girls! B)

Tonight will be day 20. I'm certainly curious about it - but scared as well ;)
Yesterday was the first day that I had the feeling that I've "arrived" in level 2. Still some minor breaks, but I knew what to expect and felt ok.
I'm very proud of us! We did awesome so far
Haven't decided yet whether to start with level 3 on Sunday or postpone it until after my vacation... I'll probably watch it once to see the exercises and decide then

Day 21... I had such a lousy day at work I had to do another cardio boxing session today just to work out some aggression  I felt much better afterwards...

Have decided I can't face an hour of level 1&2 back to back Extreme Shred tomorrow - am going to do level 3 of 30DS instead, minus the horrid rockstar jumps. My knees won't take em...

Think I might be due a day off soon too - give my joints and lower back a rest (yay for middle age!) we're nearly there though missevil & SheilaCali- go us!

I like the idea of watching it first, but I really don't have the time. I gotta just do it. I might give myself off Saturday though. So I'm a little behind, but that's what a challenge does- it pushes you. You're totally right, yeah us! B)

I seem to remember it's level 3 where Jillian forgets to do one of the exercises - I had to pause the DVD to even it up (think it was a strength exercise in the first round). Enjoy your day off! I'm just trying to motivate myself to get on with it and am instead procrastinating by scrolling through mfp community threads

Have a great day off VanVan- I ate bacon today in your honor! I took off yesterday, so today was Day 1 of Level 3. Day 15 was successful, but some moves are extra tough on me. I'm not very flexible or strong. Tabletop again? My body hates that pose. It's a shoulder thing I'm guessing. Both of my shoulders have been frozen in the past 3 years- at separate times. It's been a lot of fun, ha ha. I'm almost "thawed" out though. We can finish this!
