better alternative than store bought crap.

homemade, no cook protein balls:

1/4 cup of oats
2 scoops of chocolate protein powder (or your choice)
2 tbsp of almond butter (with flax seed) or organic peanut butter.
cup of apple sauce that is UNSWEETENED
1/4 cup of shaved almonds (optional but i love adding these in)

mixed all together & stuck in freezer.

sorry, dont know the caloric count per ball. Im sure you can figure it out depending on which brands you use

I'm sure that would work, although i dont know anything about it, but if the scoops are really that big you may only need one scoop

I do a similar one that is my go to sweet snack - 3/4 cup peanut butter (regular, almond, etc), 1/8 cup honey. 3/4 cup oats, 2 small or one large scoop protein powder. The rest you can add in - I usually do 2 tbl flaxseed, 1/2 a cup dark choc chips. I've added chia seeds (gives it a little crunch, but tastes good). Roll up and freeze. I just admust my receipe to what's in it and the number of balls becomes the number of servings. These are good for breakfast, a snack anytime you need to curb hunger. I love them with a cup of milk before bed.

I make something similar. Never thought to add applesauce. Hmmm... I will try that! Shredded coconut is yummy in it if you want to add something else for fun.

I have never heard of protein balls until I have seen them listed on some of your food diaries. What in the world are these?

    bump!

Has anyone calculated these out yet? Do they have more protein than carbs? That's my biggest problem with "protein bars"- most have more carbs, which isn't good for me when I'm looking for higher protein.

But these look really good, I may have to try them out anyway!

How many grams or volume are in the "scoops" that you use? My chocolate "scooper" is about 42g or 1/3cup. I just want to make sure I get the right ratios for the recipe! :) Thanks for sharing.
