If you lost inches everywhere else except your abdomen, that is very unusual. Even more unusual if you feel your pants are tighter at the waist, but loose everywhere else. Do get an appointment with the gyn, they should do an ultrasound (at least to see that the ovaries are normal). If that comes back normal, then think of other possible reasons. But first, the gyn.3

I doubt your Dr. suggested fat burning tablets, as there is no such thing. I agree with @Heather4448 , sounds like a body dysmorphia problem.
Don't be so sure. My wife is doing one of those medically-supervised weight loss programs -- not sure how often she sees the MD, but there's definitely one involved -- and they're having her buy a "fat burner".
The whole thing irritates the kitten out of me, because I'm paying quite a bit of money for her to do something she could have done for free, if only she'd have made the effort. It was easier for her to have a structured (and extreme) program though. Good thing the program is so extreme -- she cheats rather outrageously, but the calorie deficit they're giving her is so large that there's a lot of room for cheating and she can still lose weight. She'd have hit her target weight months ago otherwise, though.0 -
Add more protein and cut down on the carbs for a few days and see if that works.
I had the same issue and then I went on a high protein and low carb diet. I know some ppl insist that it's just a calorie deficit that helps you lose weight but everyone is different. I cannot lose that stubborn fat (especially from the waist) unless I lower the carbs. I hit my carb goal for two weeks, my waistline expands7 -
I've been loosing weight and have noticed that my stomach and waist have grown bigger. I look and feel horrible. I looked and felt a lot thinner b4 when I was 70kg now I look and feel like I was when I was a lot heavier.
I get embarrassed when I go to the gym coz my clothes are tight.
My dr suggested metabolism booster and fat burning tablets but I have been googling and I get more confused.
I need help!!!
Sometimes vegetables can cause a bloaty feeling and enlarged tummy. Especially when I make and eat cabbage soup. It's mostly cabbage ,carrots, onions, tomatoes, cilantro and tomato juice, after i spend a day or two eating it,i get bloated, fain about 2 lbs, then on the third day whoosh gone, i guess thats why I dont eat as much as I would like to. It leaves a very full feeling. Too full.0 -
If you are gaining inches in the waist but loosing weight you could have an ovarian or uterine tumor. You need an abdominal ultrasound at the very least ASAP. I am not joking.4

There are some medical issues which could cause this. Definitely see your gyn about your fibroids. In my case, my abdominal fat was caused by a benign ovarian tumor which made my cortisol go out of whack. Ask your doctor specifically about Cushing's syndrome. It's concerning that your current doctor is being so flippant - you might consider finding another doctor.3

Any news? I get bloated before my period. Sometimes I even look 5 months pregnant, but I have ovarian cysts.0

I was just informed Monday I have 3 lime sized fibroids along with 7 others of varying size. My stomach is hard and looks like a 6 month pregnant belly1

Have you recently started taking and new medications, herbs or supplements, multivitamin, or any other pill? Some may have a side effect of bloating, especially if you have recently started a pro biotic, anything your body isn't used to may be the culprit.0

How were they able to see the fibroids? Do they show up in a sonogram/pelvic exam?
I'm having issues right now so I'm curious.0 -

Not that poster, but I have uterine fibroids. They showed up on a sonogram, but not in the regular pelvic exam. I had been complaining of bloating so my ob/gyn did the sonogram.0 -

Okay. Thanks. I must not have them then because they didn't show up. All they can see is "it looks like there may have been cysts that burst". MAY HAVE. I'm about to strangle someone. I'm so *kitten* uncomfortable and no one believes me.0 -
Don’t resort to pills. They’re crap, and any pills I ever tried to take really messed with my liver.
Track your measurements.
Review your food journal to see if there are any trends relating to what you’re eating to when you feel most blecky/bloated.
Someone suggested increasing your fiber intake. THat’s a HUGE help for me - and also taking pro-biotics.
For fiber - I usually have 1-2 chocolite protein bars (www.healthsmartfoods.com) - they have about 10 grams ea. Protein and fiber, sugar/gluten free and about 100 calories.
I also have a lemonade thing I make.
1 packet of Crystal Light lemonade “to go” packet
1 scoop GNC natural brand super fiber (clear mixing)
1/2 scoop of Naked Whey protein powder (unflavored)
Add those to a 16 ounce bottle of water (drink a few sips first) - then shake well.
That runs about 70 calories, but also has about 5-6 grams each of protein and fiber. Just that little bit of protein and fiber helps me get those numbers in for the day in the right range.

A burst cyst can just really hurt like hell, but there's not much to do about it but wait and let it heal and the fluid reabsorb. So what they're telling you may be the best they can do for you. It shouldn't last much longer than a month, though.1
