Is fruit healthy?

I am on a fitness quest since last few weeks and want to know if it's ok to have some fruits in my routine. Might sound like a silly question since ofcourse fruits are considered to be good but I have also seen a lot of negative comments! I would love to know how you all think! Thanks!

Ignore negative comments. That could in fact be a general rule9

Of course.
A diet that is really unbalanced because of so much fruit wouldn't be great, but IMO that's uncommon (and you can avoid it by watching protein and fat and eating vegetables and not overeating).
If you are trying to low carb, you might need to be more limited on how much fruit you eat, but most people don't have to worry about it.1 -
*kitten* the fruit haters!!8

In moderation fruit is great! One serving with each meal (if you do the standard breakfast, lunch, dinner) is perfectly fine. Yes, there's a lot of sugar but the carbs and fiber tell your body how to digest it. Unlike just drinking juices and watching your blood sugar level go crazy!8
-
Any health reasons as to why you should avoid it?
Did it grow in nature or was it prepackaged by man?
Yes, fruit is healthy. But like anything, moderation is key.3 -
It's a whole food for *kitten* sakes...
That said, people can go over-board...too much of anything isn't a good thing. I typically keep my fruit to 1 or 2 servings per day and put a premium on veg...
If you are diabetic or on a low carb diet you are going to have to watch how much fruit you eat due to the sugar content.1 -
Fruit is good for you! Dried fruit can be a bit of a calorie bomb, but it's still got plenty of nutrients. Avocado and olives are high-fat and high-calorie, but it's healthy fat.
Basically, to meet your nutritional needs, barring a medical reason to restrict sugar and/or carbs, fruit is excellent. (And note that 'restrict' is not the same as 'eliminate'.) To meet your calorie needs, be aware that some fruits are higher in calories than others, but that definitely does not make them 'unhealthy'. It just means that, as @GlassAngyl pointed out above, moderation is key.2 -
I eat one whole fruit every day. My doctor recommends not having carbs until you have had some protein, so I usually have it as a mid-morning snack, after having a high protein breakfast. They are definitely healthy, but if you are concerned about carbs and sugars, you don't want to over do it. I have to watch my carbs, thus my one-fruit-per-day rule.6

Fruit is full of vitamins, minerals, fibre & deliciousness. I probably eat a minimum of 3 to 5 pieces of fruit a day (plus my veggies with meals).6 -

Agree. Trying so hard to be nice and helpful, instead of saying the first thing that popped into my head.
Berries, apples, pineapple, peaches, kiwi, clementines, etc, etc. Oh, so good! (Except you, cantaloupe. You suck.)3 -

You need to pour a brandy-infused syrup over it and add some chopped mint leaves.0 -

Hmmm, intriguing. But I really don't like cantaloupe. It would have to completely change the flavor to make me like it.2 -

I'm glad someone else hates the taste of cantaloupe. It's disgusting & everyone looks at me weird because I don't like it3 -

I loathe the stuff. My whole family loves it though. Meh...more for them.
I feel the same about watermelon.0 -

And it's in so many fruit cups in restaurants. Yuck. I can't eat a different fruit if cantaloupe has touched it. The flavor transfers.0 -

Fruits are healthy. If you have a medical reason to watch your sugars or carbs, limit the amount of them you eat and do not drink fruit juice.2 -

I was coming in here to post this very same sentiment.
Fruit is a whole, natural food packed full of nutrients. Enjoy it as part of a balanced diet.
Edit: We're coming into apple season people! I know apples are boring to a lot of people, but seriously, a chilled in season Honeycrisp is a treat.5 -
Of course fruit is good for you. Look at the fruitarians for a little idea. Some of the healthiest people in the world get a majority of their calories from fruit. Eat all you want.8
-
It wholly depends on HOW YOUR BODY reacts to them. If your blood sugar is stable then they wouldn't be a problem as long as they were included in your total allowable calories. For other people, like me, for example, unless I eat fruit with a protein or as part of a meal, it affects my blood sugar.3

Fruits are great in moderation. I try to eat different kinds. I find that I crave fruit when I'm thirsty. I drink water first and if I still want fruit then I eat some, but most of the time after I drink water I don't want fruit anymore.0

I just made applesauce in the crockpot. What I like to do is get 3 lbs of assorted apples in there. A Honeycrisp, an Ida Red, a McIntosh, a Granny Smith... No Red Delicious, though. They're pretty but tasteless.1 -

Homemade applesauce is one of the purest pleasures on earth.1 -
Fruit is healthy for most people. Unless you have a medical condition for which you've been advised not to eat fruit, which I'm assuming you don't since you are asking, it should be fine for you.0

It's already apple season here and it's been a good year. I canned so much apple butter and apple-pumpkin butter (also pumpkin season). And a few pints of applesauce for the grandkids (I can't stand it).0
