Who's going to get his inheritance? Or does he even have one?0
-
He lived the best pimped life.
Wait! is this for real for real?1 -
I googled it and apparently he figured out everything before he kicked the bucket. Son in charge of the company and the mansion was already sold to his neighbor.1

He has 4 kids. Tons likely going to charity as well, he was big on that.0 -
Queue the distraction, right on time.
Rip human.0 -

So many childhood memories. The man introduced me to boobies.
God bless him. He probably needs the rest.1 -
Hard to imagine a person more hated by both the puritanical right and activist left.
God bless him.1 -

Say what? National Geographic introduced me to boobies YEARS before Playboy did.2 -
He may have died today but he's been living in heaven for 65 years.8

I'd be sad but these jokes are just too good.0

I was thinking the same thing for some reason
Isn't it weird how you think some celebs will just live forever? They never do0 -
Thanks for the articles, Hef.2

Can you imagine where we would be had he not started the magazine when he did? Some call him the leader of the sexual revolution. Some call him a feminist. He gave to charities. IMO, he was an amazing human being. Not to mention he gave millions of young men their first images of naked women that they filed in their spank bank. #RIPHugh1

Omg he was NOT a feminist, that’s for certain. Misogynist, sure.

Sure, he fed our darkest desires with his products of debauchery but he may have been a decent human being if he had renounced his decadence when he hit 50 or something.
He should have died 50 years ago.

*kitten*.
His mode of feminism was outdated by NOW, for sure. Most of his ideals about sexual liberation are hardly controversial now, except among the puritanical right. But he was unquestionably a feminist. He stood up for womens' rights, empowerment, and sexual liberation at a time when women were expected to shut up, stay in the kitchen, take care of the kids, and take a good beating from their husbands now and again. He put women in positions of power in his company at a time when it was unheard of. He also published important articles on race, civil rights, and LGBTQ rights.
Yes, he had trouble keeping up with the times the last decade or so. Progressivism evolved beyond him, he could have done better in more recent times. But to deny the contributions he made, the revolution he fueled, is foolish.

I saw somebody on Twitter last night say that if Hefner had died just 10 years ago he would have been remembered very differently. I think that's unfortunately true.
My only hope is that people listen to the millions of women lamenting his passing and praising the ways he made the lives of women better, fuller, freer.2 -

Agreed, excellently put. Context is important and for his time it made incredible waves for women and there are negatives for it now but the movement he made is undeniable.

Just because you can't get any doesn't mean you have to put him down.17
