5 weeks in....how is everybody doing?
If you're like most, (including me!) it's easi(er) to be enthused and motivated the first couple of weeks...then reality sets in and it seems like things can get more difficult.

My recent challenges have been continuing to log everyday - was much easier when I had more to lose and it now seems harder than ever. Am also struggling with finding alternatives to the cardio I was doing all summer as the weather in my region heads into winter...I would much rather be outside biking or swimming.

I have to remind myself of the "why" I am doing all of this - the "bigger picture", if you will. I am happy that my clothes are smaller, my joints feel better, and hoping for overall health in the long-term.

As we start the 6th week, remember your "why"....and if it looks like you may not meet your original weight loss goal, try not to think of it as a setback. Look for other improvements, that may not have so much to do with the number on the scale.

Best wishes to you all! Keep on losing (weight) and gaining (better health)!

I had the flu this week, and I ate all sorts of things in an effort to comfort myself for feeling so lousy, so a bit of a setback, but not terrible. Back on my game this week.

It looks like I have made it past my plateau. I lost a little over 2 lbs this week. Yea!

I’ve hired a trainer and will start going to the gym Tuesday. I’ve heard that you sometimes gain weight when you start exercising. I hope I don’t.

Hello again all...I went out of town this weekend sooner than I had planned, and didn't have access to a scale. Will check in tomorrow AM.

Challenge SW: 10/1: 147.4 (goal to weight 140)

10/8: 149.8 so...not a great week, was over calories for a couple of days, and alcohol/salty snacks over the weekend did not help. I am increasing my calories as I approach maintenance, and it is difficult. Back on the wagon...I am glad I can check in here and be accountable. Hope everyone had a good week!

10/15: 150.4 Bit discouraging...I have been trying to do TDEE instead of the MFP calories & eating back some of the exercise. Something is not right. So going back to what I was doing previously and seeing if I can start over with TDEE in a few weeks.

    10/22: 150.0
10/29: 149.0 Things have been going a bit better since I went back to eating back exercise calories....knock on wood....I have also slacked a bit on logging, but still trying to be "mindful" about what I am eating. Kept up with bodyweight training this week; important since I have cut way back on cardio (on purpose) since the summer.

    11/6 150.2

    Hi Everyone-
    CSW: 202
    CGW: 194
    Weigh-in 1 - 205, 10/25
    Weigh-in 2 - 203.5, 10/30
    Weigh-in 3 - 200.5, 11/6
Have had a stomach thing so living on ginger tea and soup with crackers.

I’m also looking to beef up my cardio/ exercise as it finally gets cooler here. Had to give up a spin instructor with too much drama, so down to 2-3x a week. I am also thinking about a trainer.

Good luck everyone, just stay the course. Thanks for the reminder beckyr06. My “why” is health and improving quality of life. Have a good week folks!!

    11/6 150.2

11/12 148.0 Down in weight...but still above my challenge starting weight. Hmmm...so:

We are six weeks in - at the halfway point for this challenge. I am going to keep thinking positively because
    a) I weigh considerably less than where I originally started;
    b) my knees have never felt better compared to where they were at a year ago and
    c) I have learned a lot about my eating habits and have made some positive changes, better choices for myself. Not perfect, mind you, just better.

What are YOUR positive notes to yourself - halfway in? You don't have to post them here if you aren't comfortable. Do write them down for yourself, though.

    Have a great week, everyone.

My new focus is to stay active through these colder months. Convincing my better half to mall walk more often with me is getting difficult, so I took my granddaughter with me last night. She was fun company with the change of decorations and scenery for this holiday season.
