I use Herbalife and have been for quite some time. I lost about 65lbs originally, then gained it back due to my own failings. This time around, I'm down 28lbs so far.
It's just a convenient way to keep calories low while maintaining good nutrition without having to spend a bunch of time figuring out what I can eat and stay in a calorie deficit. It's not a placebo, nor is it anything magic. Their meal replacement shakes are simply proteins and some carbs at around 225 calories or so, along with vitamins and minerals.

I used it about 5 yrs ago and took off 20lbs very quickly but in doing so I learned nothing about portion sizes or eating correctly for my body.
And this is why Herbalife and similar things don't work. It's not that they can't take weight off, but they do absolutely nothing for you in terms of helping you understand food, the body and how to eat for a lifetime.

I have tried their products and it keeps me very full, so yeah if it helps you stay full + in a deficit consequently, then yes it will work.6
