That's such a good question.1

Lent?13

Do they even have significantly less calories to make it worth it?
ETA: OMG they have MORE???11 -
To help with portion control? I'd eat 2 easy if frosted. Without? Maybe 1, if I'd even bother. Such a waste of perfectly good empty carbs.6

Just say no to unfrosted Pop tarts!3

Probably a marketing strategy to appeal to more parents who don't want to feed their children "frosting" in the morning. Because without frosting, it can be marketed as fruit spread between two thin pieces of pastry. -eyeroll-
I agree that they are a sorry excuse for a pop tart.5 -

There's no dairy in the frosting as far as I can see0 -
*ducks in quietly* Unfrosted were the flavor of my childhood... *ducks out quietly*12

They were my childhood/adulthood too. Blueberry only toasted with butter. The blueberry ones are hard to find here. Which is probably a good thing for me.5

Should I be ashamed that I actually prefer the unfrosted ones?...18

Whew, glad for that. And butter is ALMOST like bacon in that it makes everything better. Hope I just didn't start a kitten storm with that comparison.1 -
I think a better question is why do pop-tarts exist at all. Those things are nasty.6

There's a hell of a lot of truthiness to this.1 -
Guys, I already have a Panera cinnamon crunch bagel that I have to figure out how to fit in my day. Why did it also have to be Friday Poptart Thread Day as well? ARGH!
Also, unfrosted poptarts taste of sadness. I agree, they make an appropriate Lenten penance.3 -
I think the frosting is disgusting, so I always preferred unfrosted. I only liked strawberry and blueberry versions, though (especially strawberry).3
