    Yeah but why didn't they just hop on an eagle, get there quicker, shorten the war and save many thousands of lives?

    I mean, the eagles came and picked them up AFTER they got all the way to Mount Doom

    @Rickster1967 That's a very good question. Only J.R.R. Tolkien knows the answer to that. I would hazard to guess though that the answer has something to do with if it had happened that way, we wouldn't have the trilogy and the resulting movies that we have today. :P
