I am really losing heart!

I am a disabled lady of 68 years, Dieted for 20 years non-stop, and have a working gastric band. I have bad breathing problems on moving around the house and arthritis bad in back and knees.
I weight train but seated every day, quite hard to get breathless sitting, except for really bad days when I still do something with arm gadget I have.
I was a constant 23 stone + but since cutting calories further to 800- 1000. my weight has gone up to 25.9lbs. The gastric band people say I should not have more than 800 cal's a day but on shakes and 1 tiny meal. I have ballooned. When I ate a constant 1400 calories I stayed the same for years and when on occasion I over-ate I lost weight. I have hopspital saying I'm not trying, I cant walk or go out. Desparate for good advice. please ????

Use this link to come to our thread and tell your story. There are women in this community who have had gastric bypass, others with various sorts of disabilities, and all are encouraging and supportive and have great ideas.

I hope I'll see you there. Do not be discouraged. If you keep seeking a solution with an open mind, you'll get some ideas that will work for you.

Weight management is pure and simple math, not magic. Log more accurately and be more patient.

I'm wondering, what's your process? obviously you calorie count, are you logging with MFP? and how confident are you of your numbers/measurements?

The human body is fuelled by food. If you are gaining weight you are fuelling it too much.

Can you open your diary so we can help you log?

This thread is a great explanation. Man thanks @vismal

The edema and water retention was what I was wondering about also. Hoping it gets better for you.

Weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise. You do not have to exercise to lose weight. If you are 25 stone and you are truly eating 800 - 1000 calories a day, you should be losing weight. Are you logging everything you eat and drink each day?

I would do exactly what the gastric band people say to do, and I would use a kitchen scale to weigh the shakes and tiny meal to the gram for accuracy. I also hope it gets better for you soon.
