cleanse

Hi all,
I am fairly new to MFP and was wondering about doing a cleanse. It seems like something that might be healthy to do once in a while (not all the time). I tried the Teami Colon Cleanse Tea and although I did exactly what I should in terms of how long to let it steep (not very long at all), the next morning the effects were... effective, but not exactly something you want to do if you plan on doing anything else the next day that takes you very far from a bathroom. Sorry so gross. It really messed with my system and that was only from one use. It actually says to use it every other night and that is nearly impossible for me since my work commute is an hour every morning. No way can I risk it. I might try it again the next time I am on vacation and home for a few days... but until then, how about some more natural ways to cleanse? Links appreciated.

Also, like I said, I'm fairly new to MFP and have like 3 friends here, so if you are looking for a buddy, feel free to add me. I'm trying to lose 30 pounds in 30 weeks with a healthier diet. So far I've lost 4 in less than 2 weeks, but I know it will fluctuate.

Thanks!!

What are you trying to accomplish with this procedure? Your body is perfectly capable of doing its job without a "cleanse."

Natural ways to cleanse is to leave it up to your kidneys, liver, skin and lungs to do the work for you.

Eat a wide range of fruit and vegetables and lean protein sources within your calorie limits and stay hydrated.

The body is amazing, no need for any scam "Detox" or "Cleanse"

Your body does not need a "cleanse". Your body cleanses itself of toxins naturally every day. Your digestive system works best when it has plenty of natural "flora" in the form of beneficial bacteria to support your immune system. When you cleanse, you destroy all of that. If you want to lose weight, there is one sure fire way to do it....eat fewer calories than you burn. It's just that simple. All calories are created equal when it comes to losing weight so you can eat whatever you like as long as it fits within the calories MFP gives you each day. Enter your vital statistics, activity level, weight loss goals and MFP will assign you a calorie total per day. Log everything you eat and drink every day and stay within the limit and you will lose weight.

You do know pooping excessively isn't actually weight loss right? Laxative abuse is never a good plan. You don't need a cleanse if your body is working properly - and if it isn't that should be something a doctor helps with - not something you try and fix with teas.

So it had serious negative side effects and you're thinking you might try it again? Say what??

The only reason to "cleanse" is if you're going to have a colonoscopy or some other medical procedure.
