Breathe Out the Fat!

Options
Gah! This inexplicably showed up in my news feed this morning - I can't even. It's called the "Long Breath" diet.

http://www.medicaldaily.com/long-breath-diet-miki-ryosuke-former-japanese-actor-breathes-away-28-pounds-and-5-inches-video

If you don't want to click (and who could blame you, it might show up in your newsfeed next), the "diet" consists of two types of deep breathing exercises while tightening specific muscles. The explanation for why it works:

" Jill Johnson, creator of the Oxycise, told Oddity Central that because fat is made up of oxygen, carbon, and hydrogen, the oxygen breathed reaches the fat molecules and breaks them down to carbon dioxide and water. As a result, the blood picks up the carbon dioxide and returns it to the lungs to be exhaled. "Therefore the more oxygen we our bodies use, the more fat we will burn," said Johnson. The combination of exercise and breathing will boost your metabolism and lead to weight loss."

Thought I'd get a jump on the "Who wants to do the Long Breath diet with me!!" threads...

That's what I thought at first, but no, you eat food and breathe, and the fat melts off. Apparently because oxygen.

it's funny because it's based in science but altered and distorted.

There is a ted talk out there I believe that explains where the fat goes...and basically we exhale it (if I remember correctly)

This is true, I was thinking of that when I read the article.

I was going to post 'where does our fat go when we lose it'? I remember a thread or two on this in the past.

I wonder if you can combine this with this other program I saw on a highway billboard the other day, where they somehow spot freeze the fat off?

I feel like following to see if they figure out how to monetize breathing.

The possibilities are endless! Special bottled "negative-calorie air," DVDs and classes to show you how to breathe properly... I only hope that insane "programs" like these will prove to the "but I read it on the interwebs!" people that there IS a lot of misinformation out there! Though of course some people will still buy into this crap. Smh.

So if I focus on breathing deeply during my runs, I'll take in LOTS of oxygen......and by next bikini season I'll be reduced to a mere wisp of aerobic nothingness! This is really great news. ;)
