Second Christmas as a diabetic - no baking for me! But I have discovered many magnificent things which I can eat with no problems, mainly nuts, fancy cheese, and exotic fruit from the foreign market. My latest discovery is putting a few drops of various extracts in my coffee. It's fancy!

@ralphone and @RunsOnEspresso - this must be baking day... I am trying to get mine caught up. I still have a couple of types of bread to make and one kind of cookies! They will all be given away but I need to get them baked. I am just so far behind - damn work travel!

    @Elise4270 - no pie! :confounded:

5 miles this morning then took my older kids to see the new Star Wars movie. I’m not a big Star Wars buff, but it’s something the kids love with their dad. Since he’s gone for the holidays I stepped up to the plate. I enjoyed it and the bucket of popcorn  I guess the diet can start again tomorrow...

I love cheesecake. I resisted 2 blueberry cheesecakes this week at work.

DH got sweet potato, apple, and cherry pies.. *hangs head*. @shanaber I indulged in chili with a modest amount of Fritos and shredded queso. I'm determined to stay out of the pie and do a mile on the TM today.

@rheddmobile I love coffee. I've been doing the no caffeine teas, I just picked up an orange spice one and walnuts- which I'm sure I can have without a migraine. I live for cheese :-) DH said "it'll clog your arteries", I said "ya, if you shove a piece of it in your artery". He retorted "it'll clog your butt". Me "ya, if you shove it up your *kitten*".

My husband's aunt and uncle sent along one of his wonderful homemade rum cakes! I guess it's a good thing that I can't taste anything right now! And no strength to burn off the calories. Lol!

    December goal: 75 miles

    12/3: 9.1 miles
    12/5: 3.1 miles (intervals)
    12/6: 4.2 miles
    12/8: 4.1 miles
    12/10: 8.1 miles
    12/12: 4.2 miles
    12/13: 4.2 miles
    12/14: 3.1 miles (intervals)
    12/17: 9.1 miles
    12/19: 4.3 miles
    12/20: 4.3 miles
    12/21: 4.1 miles
    12/23: 8.5 miles

    70.4/75 miles

I got my run in. 8.5 beautiful miles. It was a chilly 49°F when I started, but ended up about 54°F. It always surprises me how much if a difference the sun makes. It was beautiful and sunny today and just about perfect, but the same temperature when it is cloudy just seems unpleasant to me.

I'm really looking forward to the festivities tomorrow and Monday. I'm not doing any baking. My husband and son both requested those holiday tins of butter cookies. I figure between my mom and 4 sisters there will be plenty of baked goods tomorrow and my mother in law is making monkey bread for Monday. So deviled eggs, a cheese plate and some fruit is really all I am going to have to do.

We got snow this morning (and rain overnight) but everything had melted by the time the 9 year old and I got out to do our run. Some slick treacherous hills in the woods so it was slow going at times. We explored for a bit on a new bike trail we didn't know existed! It was cool, damp and windy so Q bailed a bit early but I managed to get most of my mileage in. I'll probably add an extra mile to the long run tomorrow to compensate. Also did a yoga class and my strength and I am going to foam roll while watching movies tonight.

Goals this month: 90 miles, maintain weight, PT and yoga, add one day of weights per week, register for spring marathon or ultra

My goal is to run for health, not try to stay healthy enough to run!

@rheddmobile Ha, I like that way of looking at it! I might need to adopt that to some extent... I think my goal is to do both.

i.e. run to be healthy and be healthy enough to run.

As of today: 2065.12 miles for 2017
    December Goal: 205.95/200

What are your goals for this next year?
Running, running and some more running...
I want to continue to maintain my weight and fitness level.
I do have two races, that I have been doing for two years. A charity run (10K and 5K) in June and Go Commando Half Marathon for October.

Where do you want to be a year from now?
I want to be maintaining my weight and and running.

How do you see your training evolving?

Not sure about what evolution I will see, my main interest is running distance. I do not want to be faster/slower, just want to run.

    @Alphahowls very nice goals!!

@JessicaMcB I see your 45 km run and I liked it but it should have been an awesome.

Ran 15 km this morning in 1:32:20. Very happy with that.

I managed the first 10 km in about 58 minutes, but had to stop for a runner's emergency.

Kept going at an easier pace and decided to stop at 15 km since I've been pushing it a bit lately and it felt wise. Feeling happy with having done a good pace for that distance.

Fully agree. This is honestly why to this day I do not call myself a runner. Sure I have a couple marathons under my belt, I am looking at an ultra in 2018... and then Dopey... but, like rheddmobile I run for health, and my focus is not on being healthy enough to run. The races are just goals to help keep focus.

I know that feeling. I run to keep myself from other habits. Several coworkers have gone to rehab and I don't want to go down that road.... job stress keeps me running. Races are for focus and to test myself, but running is also just a tool.

Yeah. Exactly. I have plenty of loved ones that have umm we will just say gone other routes and regretted it. I try to not repeat their mistakes. I have enough skill at making my own :)

Yeah, I'm good at making mistakes for myself, so i don't need to repeat others mistakes. Running 16+ hours does give a high though, so there is that.
