I am putting myself on strict regimen over the next 7 days. My body gives me no leeway. I will enjoy xmas day, and thats it. I do plan to count all of my points and use it as a whipping stick when I whine about about gaining again. Other than that I have been pretty good about staying within my count. I work my treat into my count. I too did some xmas baking, and other than having one piece if each, I gave almost all of it away. I kept a few for visitors. Its near the bottom of the freezer, and a pain to get at. I try to avoid easy access.
It isn't 6 lbs. of actual fat. Trust me. In two days? 3500 X 6 calories above maintenance? There is just no way. I'd bet my lower intestine it is a combination of water and just physically the weight of the actual food. Maybe you kept a pound. See where you are three or four days from now.1 -
I've been on my exercise bike every night, because I've been eating 1600 - 1800 calories everyday, the little cookie here and there has been a pain0

Much of that would be excess water weight because of higher carbs, salt and food volume. There no way you could gain that much additional fat in such a short period of time unless you were over eating by around 20,000 calories in a weekend.0 -
You all may be right. I was over by 1500 calories at one party and 500 at another. Combine that with no exercise that weekend and having to work night shifts resulted in the gain. It is frustrating to having to repeat the same loss over and over and over. Last year I could have lost 50 lbs if it wasn't for my sabotaging myself by regaining and losing the same seven pounds. That is why its important to me to keep to a strict program. I am giving myself 1800 calories to work with and I will try to not eat my exercise.0

Wow some folk really must be a blast at xmas1

i'm really REALLY hoping santa has some reeses in his sack for me... :laugh:2 -
My whole holiday plan is condensed into two days. My family holiday Saturday (three cups of eggnog, add rum) and Christmas Day. I’ll probably do my best to pre-log. Also eat a ton of veggies and fruit before dessert.
I’m really gunning for the eggnog. Wish me luck, it’s been a year since I’ve had a drink.3 -

All right, so just no. Even if by 2000 total over maintenance (v. over your loss goal calorie amount) you could not have even gained one lb.
Merry Christmas!0 -

Come to my house. Santa already brought and has stored three different varieties (or should I say shapes? They're all the same thing) of Reese's. Trees, cups and...something.
The stockings will be stuffed with a total lack of care this Christmas!!0 -
I've been craving an orange cranberry cake that I made for the first time last year (was not on a diet). I haven't baked a lot in the last 6-7 years because I don't want to eat it all--I would gain weight every Christmas from tasting it all. However, I finally gave in and bought the cranberries and orange today to make it. Each day this week I have wanted it and instead bought a substitute "treat" and it has not helped resolve the craving. In most cases the substitute was nowhere near as tasty as this cake is, so that's the problem. I will make the cake, eat a slice or two, and then cut it up and freeze the rest. I still have about 6 slices of a cake that I made in June 2017 in the freezer. No desire to eat them, so maybe time to throw that out and see how long the cranberry/orange cake lasts.5

That sounds so good. We're starting a tradition we've wanted to but didn't really put into place until this year: Chinese food for Christmas Eve. I'll log it but I only have Chinese like once a year (for whatever reason) so I can not wait!
Christmas Day is the taco truck.
Yes, we Southern Californians are just strange...sue us.2 -

I've had so much luck with following this strategy and freezing baked goods. I was craving some pumpkin muffins last month. I made them, ate a couple (over two days) and froze the rest. It's so much better than not having it at all or baking it and feeling like I need a plan to eat it or give it away all at once.1 -
Thank you very much experienced MFP people I admire, I am staring down the barrel of a departmental pi**a lunch and you changed my approach from (grits teeth) MUST ... NOT to a gentle I CAN MAKE IT (almost) FIT.4

You can! Have fun today, hon!0 -
I am nursing my son and we just found out he's sensitive to cow's milk protein so I've cut out all diary from both of our diets and now I find it easy to avoid all treats. I need to find out how to harness that willpower when I can go back to diary products and chocolate.1

Oh yeah, the bells are good, too! All of them have a better PB to chocolate ratio than normal Reese's cups1 -

Agreed! I can pass on regular Reese's cups. But a tree or an egg or a pumpkin?!? GIMME!3 -

The first step is admitting we have a problem.
The second step is taking 1/3 of our Reese's Bells out of our kids' stockings, claiming we heard a report about chocolate poisoning and were willing to take one for the team by self-testing.3 -

I just stash the 1/3 in my closet before I even fill stockings.2 -

I was covering up the hole I made with a toothpick to dip them in the chocolate.
