Sweet n sour detoxification juice

I made a juice full of superfoods that aid in detoxification such as lemon, grapefruit, orange juice, and apple cider vinegar and cinnamon. I added a packet of stevia and 2 Tbsp honey to balance the sour taste. Honey is a natural antioxidant and cinnamon helps with detoxification and the balancing of blood sugar levels! Add water!

That sounds disgusting and is totally unnecessary.10

Can't we at least wait until January 2nd to start with the "detox" threads...?13

That is a recipe for a massive eczema outbreak for me. I love it when people say I should do a detox to 'cure' myself, and damn near everything in their supposedly magical elixir is one of my trigger foods. They'd probably then tell me the unbelievable rash is a sign my body is detoxing and I just need to tough it out.

Most woo is stupid but harmless. This, on the other hand, could potentially give someone an overdose if they were on certain meds which should not be taken with grapefruit. So if you're reading this and taking statins, don't do this.
Leaving aside the fact that detoxing is not a thing, there are some specifically silly things wrong about combining these foods, since their theoretical benefits disappear when combined. Woo plus woo does not equal better woo, sometimes they cancel each other out. Cinnamon does have a slight effect on blood glucose, which is going to be more than overbalanced by the honey and orange juice. Apple cider vinegar has been shown to have a slight effect on how quickly carbs are absorbed - which only matters if you are a diabetic, and consume it before you eat carbs. Again, sweetening it with honey would overbalance any possible benefit.9 -

Ancient wisdom tells us that citrus foods alkanize the blood. Not really but they don’t fit in a wOo recipe.
Honey is just sugars. No antioxidants that I can think of.2 -
Honey and hot water is great when you have a cough though. Feels good on the throat.6

Honestly, I wouldn't spend calories on that vs. eating some whole fruit with nice filling fiber in it. They're right: Detox ain't a thing.2

If you take the vinegar out of it, i can see it might be a tasty and enjoyable drink and depending ow much water you use, not that high calorie.
But it isnt super foods and it isnt detoxing.
If you like it ( even with the ACV !! ) and it fits into your calorie allowance and you have no medical contra indications - then, sure, drink it
Just don't credit it with any magic properties - it is just a combination of food ingredients, like any other recipe.

and if you are going to drink it regularly, perhaps use recipe builder and log it as sweet and sour juice.
or even detoxification juice if it makes you feel better - after all ,we can label our recipes whatever we like.
