For us Germans, sausage is life, so while it doesn't make sense to the world, it makes sense to us. My G'ma used to say something similar about "everything can go but the sausage" but I don't know the German wording anymore.1 -

I saw that in a Google search i just did, and it is close I guess, but she said it different. I remember go was actually conjugated geht, as 'it goes' I think. So it starting 'Alles geht...then something, something Wurst rings a bell. ???

That's a different "but"...more like "although" or "however"...but like "except"

Not to derail the thread, but being German and Polish, we REALLY get into sausage and beer. lol. A fave Polish cheer we had at games is "Ooh-sa-sa-sa! Ooh-sa-sa-sa! Hit ’em in the head kielbasa!". Another G'ma gem, but I only recall the English saying of it. My Polish is even sketchy-er.1
