Thirty years ago, when I was a college freshman, I was about the same weight I am now. I wore a size 5 at the Gap. At this moment, I am wearing Gap pants that are a size 00...a size that didn't even exist back in the day.

There used to be a store called 5/7/9, which called itself the "small size specialist"...because decades ago, those were the smallest sizes.

Much has been said about how Marilyn Monroe was a size 12 or 14...but, in today's clothes, she would probably wear a 4 or 6.

Yes I know I always wanted to go to 5/7/9 haha I was probably too young tho anyway, yes miss Marilyn would be a size 00 waist and 2 hips. :)

    Don't worry

Thanks! I'm not too worried about what size I will actually be, just curious. The reason I think I might be a larger size at the same weight I once was is because my body composition has changed after having kids. I will also have some loose skin and I think it will make my pants size bigger. I could be wrong, and really it doesn't matter as long as I am healthy and active.

I am somewhat insane, so don't take the title as offensive. I had anxiety attack earlier, but anyways what do you all think about clothes sizing nowadays? You can be obese at size 6 now honestly bcuz of vanity sizing !!

I went shopping at the weekend and bought a pair of trousers size uk12 and a pair uk10. Both fit perfectly. Both from same shop

Men's clothing sizes are much easier to interpret. With pants they are sized by the amount of inches the waist is in the amount of inches the inseam is. So for example a man with a 30 inch waist and a 32in inseam would buy a pair of pants that were 30/32. Or that might be vice versa it might be the inseam waist rather than waste inseam. Anyway they're not subjective bizarre sizes like 12, 14, 00,2.

Dress shirts tend to be sized by collar size and I think the breath across the shoulders. Casual clothes like polo shirts and t-shirts tend to be small medium large Etc

Yes, that's true but they vary nowadays too, but yeah I have worn little boys and little girls clothes before at 240 lbs, cuz I'm weird well I always wore kids clothes once in a while in high school, I wear my sisters clothes when I'm was 240. She 11 but overweight little girls size 14-18.

I wear size 20 AMETHYST jeans 5'8 240lbs. Some xl mens tshirts fit me and some are too tight, so it would be a 2x in women I'm guessing. Sizing varies on the clothing

JillianRumrill, you will have to try on clothing when you are losing weight and even more when you get at your goal weight because plus sizes vary every 20lbs and regular sizes every 10 I've heard and sizes vary between brands.
