I thought that was a better bread option too, but it's not. I found Ole Extreme tortillas. I buy the high fiber version. At 50 calories each, they're surprisingly tasty.7 -
how much sugar in in fruit2

Ughhh cheesecake is my kryptonite, but since finding out I’ve switched over to homemade Japanese style cheesecake that’s under 300calories a serving.
do you have a specific recipe that you wouldn't mind sharing? I'd LOVE more cheesecake in my life...
also, a surprise for me was mushrooms. I often cook them without much (if any) oil, so to see they have between 8-30 kcal/100g was a pleasant surprise.2 -

Agree with this. I had bought some flour tortillas last week--these were the SMALL ones. And one of those is 90 calories!! I would rather eat an apple or banana, or some vegetables. Because who can eat just ONE small tortilla? If you make a taco or enchilada you are going to want two. That's 180 calories right there without even putting in the filling. I would save it for special occasions.2 -

You can always eat the fiber one goat feed Its only 60 calories per serving.
the fiber one goat feed. LOL. Just stocked up on 4 boxes.
Sorry..my mistake....the stuff is delicious2 -
How many calories are in homemade bread with just a bit of butter, not even a whole serving of butter.2

Needless to say haven't had one in a while!!!
5 oz of red wine at 120 calories is a dent in my accounts......damnit! Hmmmmm......eat or drink?????
I can actually drink 2-3 ozs and I am good.My friends laugh at me.2 -

My remedy for that is to buy the small corn tortillas. There are some that you can have 3 for 100 calories. They work great for tacos or fajitas.6 -

https://www.justonecookbook.com/souffle-japanese-cheesecake/ is the Japanese cheesecake recipe I use, and it's about 300Cal a slice (assuming 12 slices from the cake). I serve it with whipped cream and a homemade strawberry sauce which ups the Cal count a bit though
ETA: My surprise was how quickly Cals from coffee added up. I only had milk and no sugar, but I had to drop the amount of milk I was having in them, because when 200-300Cals of your precious allotment each day disappear to coffee, something has to change.3 -

I Love these tortillas, they come in awesome flavors and are huge for 80 calorie (10inch). Most other wraps the same size are 150-180 calories.

Cerial! I always thought I was around the serving size decided to weigh my food one day and was shocked! I use to have a whole bowl of mini wheetabix but the serving size amounts to about 7 of them2

My choice would honestly be cooking oil. I mean jeez 1 tablespoon is 120 calories and that's barely enough for me to cook 1 diced potato without it sticking to the pan and burning.

You must be an easy drunk or just like the taste
I didn't think they existed...lol!1 -

As well. I tend to just use a tiny bit of water in the pan rather than oil now, but some things just need to be fried a bit don’t they?!

Oh yes. Discovering that my "serving" cereal was actually closer to 3 or 4 servings was a sad day.
I used to have two bowls for dinner because I was "being good."
Turns out I was definitely NOT being good.
How small a serving of nuts is.
Same here with the nuts. It was like wuuuuuut.2 -
Ice cream. Measuring out an actual half cup was sad.
Thankfully I found Halo Top, but damn it is expensive.5 -

I think you just need a better pan. I don't cook anything with oil or butter or any fat and stuff doesn't stick.3 -
Ugh...the calories in frilly coffee drinks. Was in love with McDonald's iced caramel macchiato, until I found that it wasn't loving me back. That sucker has just shy of 400 calories in a medium!!! So I had to turn my back on their deliciousness and die in the inside...that's all.4

A chocolate chip cookie! I ate one at Panera as a treat and it was 380 calories! More than either the 1/2 salad or the sandwich I ordered. Baked goods in general are off the charts-- 500 calories for a muffin.2

I use PAM quite often, instead of oil or butter. It isn't calorie free but has a lot less than oil. Some of my pans are older so I like to put a little something on it just to be sure it doesn't stick.1 -

Sausage. A roll is 16 ounces, 2 ounces (1/8 of a roll) is over 200 calories. My "healthy " casserole with assorted vegetables with 1/2 sausage roll on the top serves 2. So 400 calories per serving plus the vegetables. I am very sad. Crap.2

Raw almonds, particularly the fat content.
Also, I was shocked at the sugar content in dried cranberries (unsweetened). For some time, I had been snacking on them; I immediately stopped doing so once I realized how much sugar was in them and, after some time, greatly reduced the frequency of using them as a topping for greek yoghurt.2 -
Peanut butter and alcohol, namely cocktails!1

On the low end: Shakshuka (basically poached eggs atop a chunky tomato-eggplant sauce). I was looking for an option for dining out with friends and saw it on the menu at a Middle Eastern restaurant. And then I realized that there's almost no way to make a super-caloric version (unless you do something obvious, like serve it swimming in oil. The restaurant actually brings it in a bread bowl, but I request it without). It can run from 150 to around 500 calories.
At brunch last weekend my husband got spinach and cream shakshuka, and it's the only shakshuka I've every really liked, and of course the most calorific
Dates are a real bummer for me, and I usually avoid them now because of the calories. Jachnun and bourekas are two of my favorite things that are pretty shocking - it's hard to believe you can pack so many calories into one dish. I would say the most surprising to me is how widely the calorie count can vary in things like sandwiches or pizza or even popcorn.2 -
It's that moment when you realize one it that you used to eat frequently is over your daily calories for MAINTENANCE. What I used to order at my local Japanese restaurant, with the egg rolls, fortune cookie, and TWO full containers of shrimp sauce is over 3,000 calories.2

I was surprised when I checked the calories of my favorite Longhorn Steakhouse dish. I love their Parmesan Crusted Chicken.......loved is more like it now. It is 1260 calories (almost my entire day's worth) or 630 if you only eat half. I figured out a way to make it less calories at home3
