Struggling With PCOS and Hypothyroid To Lose Weight Advice?

Okay, I'm 30 years old, I had an ultrasound last summer, and got told earlier this month, that it was likely PCOS I had. Earlier last year, I was also told I had Hypothyroidism, but it was still in a normal range just slightly low, and started on Eltroxin 50mg. The medication sorted my periods and I became regular for the last few months.

Now, before October, I started eating 1200 calories a day, and by November, I had lost 9lbs, without very much exercise beside walking my dogs everyday for an hour, that was my only exercise. Now, December, I lost my best friend, and it really set me back with my depression and anxiety (I suffer with severe anxiety by the way), and with it being Christmas, I ate A LOT of chocolate. I then got a full body rash, which turned into a viral infection, had blood tests but they were normal, and eventually it started to go, even though I still have a slight little rash left, and a week's course of antihistamines left. Anyway, over Christmas and up to now, I've put on 5lbs again.

This time I seem to be really struggling to get it down, even though I'm eating much better and for my PCOS, but I'm struggling, because I am home all day, and the only time I get out is to walk the dogs, so I'm alone most of the day. I just feel very confused and deflated, stressed, and tired with it all. I'm eating normally, cut down on the chocolate massively after the Christmas, and trying to curb the anxiety and stress but it is hard with how I am.

I just wanted to know how to cope with PCOS when trying to lose weight, as my periods have sorted out with the Hypothyroid medication, and I was losing weight before, but I am struggling now. Any advice?

I think you may still be experiencing some water weight weirdness related to the rash and such, and would encourage patience in the short run. After you've been fully asymptomatic and off drugs for a couple of weeks, you should start seeing more realistic results. I know it's frustrating, but even with metabolic conditions (I'm hypothyroid BTW), the same basic strategies apply.

    Best wishes!

I never actually thought the medication and the virus could be the route. Thank you, I'll definitely give myself more time for things to go back to normal.
