So if I'm speeding by 5ish MPH over the limit, but the officer is pretty sure I INTENDED to adhere to the limit, he should just let me go? How about in a school zone with kids crossing the street? Yes, like driving, bad grammar kills.
Bad grammar is generally OK. It's bad punctuation that's dangerous.

    Let's eat, Gramma.

    Let's eat Gramma.

Or the difference between helping your Uncle Jack, off his horse and...
helping your uncle jack off his horse.

People would let it go if it weren't so widespread. After awhile, your eyes just begin to twitch when you see it over and over.

I see your point, but I would LOVE MFP forever if they would put a banner at the top of their header that says:

"You LOSE weight so your pants will be LOOSE"

I mean, come on! I know you mean you want to LOSE a few pounds, not LOOSE. So "lose" the extra "o". OK?

Rant over (climbing down from my soapbox). Thanks!

I do this thing where I correct incorrect grammar and spelling with more, different incorrect grammar and spelling.

    It's usually hilarious.

I'll admit to being a D-bag when it comes to certain people & correcting them. I do it out of my need to feel superior. :indifferent:

Oh yes, absolutely! I just didn't know that little scene was an Internet "thing" until one of my former coworkers showed it to me.

All kidding aside though, that "loose/lose" thing does make my eyeballs itchy. Unless English isn't your first language, and then I don't judge at all. Whereas my spelling and grammar can be nearly perfect in English, it's terrible in other languages, for reasons I do not comprehend.
