I really suck at being patient.

I have 8-10lbs more to lose and progress is sloooow. When I first started losing weight I was dumb and decided to crash diet. I know that it’s really unhealthy, but I lost 10-14lbs in the space of 4 weeks and it felt good. Since I discovered MFP I’ve been more sensible and have been eating at least the recommended 1,200 and it’s definitely working. It’s just a struggle to keep patient. Does anyone else find that also? I just feel like I’m constantly fighting the idea that if I just did the same thing again I could reach my goal so quickly and then it’d be done and over. I’m not going to do it and I’m not really looking for advice - more like solidarity in knowing that I’m not the only one resisting the urge to get it over and done with quickly ^^’

The last ten pounds take FOR.EV.ER!

... and then you get to maintain.
Forever
So thinking on how to do that should distract you quite effectively while you're waiting for the time to pass!20 -

But I don’t have a problem with maintaining. I find it much easier than both crash dieting (obviously) and sensible reasonable deficits. ^^’

What are you planning to do when it's "over and done"?
(I'm in maintenance, so I'm not exactly in the same spot, but I can tell you that I'm really wanting to eat something, but I'm not going to. Yeah, it sucks a bit right now.)3 -

You can hand-type some emojis, if you know them. Put a :colon: on both sides of the word. Now you can distract yourself during the last ten pounds by playing with new emojis!

Then maintenance, the easy bit! For me it just feels like reaching that goal will be a huge weight off my shoulders, so to speak. I can increase my calories and live happily ever after, probably1 -
Yes it can suck, and yes, I get impatient sometimes.
I try to find other goals and things to focus on so I'm less concerned about the weight.
Since you're so close, it's going to be a looong process, so learning to accept that and finding a few other things to focus on would probably help.2 -

Whenever I think about crash-dieting, I look at my hair and fingernails and think about how much I would miss them if they went all brittle and fell out. I've certainly had the thought from time to time. Hang in there - we can do it!5

This. I looked back to my previous weigh ins for kittens and giggles. It took me 4 freaking months to lose my last 5 pounds. I lost the 20 pounds before those in 5 months :ohwell:4 -

That’s true. I’m definitely gonna keep working towards fitness goals too, so that can be my focus for the journey I think0 -

Wow sorry. I guess that’s like unconscious sexism or something, because I just saw a small figure lifting a giant weight and assumed male!
I’m sorry! Thank you kind lady :flowerforyou:8 -
The last 5-10lbs can be slow and difficult. But if I ever think about losing too fast, I remember how hard I've worked and how I don't want to sacrifice my hard-earned muscle and body composition. Then when I get to goal it is all... Yo Yo Ma0

The last 10 pounds has so far taken me 8 months to lose. Not even joking. And it hasn't even been 10 pounds I lost. More like 7-8 depending on the day.2

I feel you! I'm about 10-15lbs away now too. I'm considering just switching to recomping instead.1

I didn't even lose my last 6 pounds I did something else instead. I came out better for recomp then moving to other strategies to build more muscle. NO regrets. I weight 12 more pounds than my original scale weight goal.
I will NEVER be done. I still have to eat right and exercise my fanny off. IF I chose to eat the crap amount calories a woman my age and height with a desk jobs gets to maintain, I would be miserable.. but I refuse that.
Choices choices, hard work and more hardwork, but I am healthy, feel great (looking better imho) so its ALL worth it.

Haha, it's pretty simple. Eat at maintenance (with a focus on lots of protein) and strength train. You'll shed fat while putting on muscle, so the scale won't move but you'll slowly lose some inches and gain muscle. It's a very, very slow process but a nice alternative to cutting/bulking cycles.3
