I really suck at being patient.

Okay, lose at whatever rate your impatient self wants. I lost at 1200 calories a day at a rate of about 2 pounds a week, then it slowed . Thirty pounds down to goal weight in five months. Started losing hair and a lot of muscle mass in my arms. I look great in clothes and droopy and floppy naked. If I had it to do again I would lose at a rate of a pound a week. It’s been 8 months since I reached my goal weight and I’m still losing hair. Good luck.

I wish I could hug you and say you're insightful, both. You can and will overcome this, if you choose, because you see it clearly. :flowerforyou:

I agree, I lost 50lbs, then maintained that for 6months, now 1,5month back tackling the last 8kg and the maintenance part was so easy! I find my maintenance calories and just the mental side of not being in deficit so liberating.

I've got no patience too, but I really enjoy exercising, so it's just a matter of push through the caloric deficit one day at a time and eventually the Maintenance happy land will come!

You can hand-type some emojis, if you know them. Put a :colon: on both sides of the word. Now you can distract yourself during the last ten pounds by playing with new emojis!

This is gold - thanks! I've been adding them slowly on a spreadsheet as I spot them in comments, and here you've put them all together in one spot!

I can't take any credit. I got the whole list from another member.

    @pinuplove for those who care.

Give her a hug sometime for doing this :)

    You're awful, @TackleWasher!

    Yeah, well, you're.... you're... you're a guy!

I truly LOL'ed!!! Up to five!

I...whaaa... What is even going on here and how did I get dragged in?? That's what I get for working this afternoon!

@Tacklewasher is awful (not news) and @quiksylver296 is a guy (probably ought to send that dress back...)

Wait a tick... @tacklewasher is male? I thought she was Canadian?

Of course @quiksylver296 is a guy. He's far too reasonable and accountable.

Contrarian opinion: if you can REALLY maintain without hanging by your fingernails, go faster. Cut to 1200, 1300 (wherever) and just be done with it. Most people who do crash/fad/fast diets are not educating themselves on proper nutrition. They don’t have to tools to maintain. They go back to old eating habits. So if you do, go for it.

I’m already eating at 1,200-1,300 and still finding it too slow. For me, quick would be eating at about 500 calories a day. I’m obviously not gonna do that, but with a TDEE of about 1,600 and currently weighing 124 it’s so easy to screw up my weightloss with miscalculations or cheats, so even at 1,200 it’s not like it’s gonna go anywhere quickly.

I think the tagging was partly my fault. :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: to the now-untagged multitudes.

    The digression? Blame all around.

    Sorry, OP. :flowerforyou:

Totally get you! I'm struggling right now to be patient with the same thing. Wish I could speed right through it and get it all done with but need to keep patient. And Ultimately it is to lose the weight and keep it off forever. :* That idea makes me so excited for the day that I finally do. I'll have to plan an activity or adventure or event to celebrate. :D

I didn't even lose my last 6 pounds I did something else instead. I came out better for recomp then moving to other strategies to build more muscle. NO regrets. I weight 12 more pounds than my original scale weight goal.

I will NEVER be done. I still have to eat right and exercise my fanny off. IF I chose to eat the crap amount calories a woman my age and height with a desk jobs gets to maintain, I would be miserable.. but I refuse that.

Choices choices, hard work and more hardwork, but I am healthy, feel great (looking better imho) so its ALL worth it.

100% this!!!! And I'm also team Roxie when I grow up.

Whenever I think about crash-dieting, I look at my hair and fingernails and think about how much I would miss them if they went all brittle and fell out. I've certainly had the thought from time to time. Hang in there - we can do it!
I do kinda feel like those are a little.. exaggerated. I have no doubt that people surviving for extended periods on few calories have those symptoms and more, but I do feel the long term risks are far less likely for those on short term diets. That’s not to say I’d encourage short time crash diets at all, I just don’t believe that after a month your hair and fingernails are gonna up and leave your body ^^’

You may have a point, but what can (and often does) happen in the short term with crash diets is that the person finds it impossible to sustain and either quits or enters a dangerous long-term cycle of overrestricting and bingeing.
